This morning I went out the front door, and saw a flock of 22 turkeys in the pasture, right across the drive. This is the best I could do with my digital camera, as they calmly walked away.

2 times this year during deer season, i watched turkey play around and eat no more than 15 yards away... i'm sitting against a light pole, orange vest blowing in the wind, raising the rifle up and down looking through the scope... and they couldn't care less...

but as soon as they see you with a shotgun.... :cuss:

how many turkeys would it take to stop a 300 gr. xtp out of my muzzloader????

Since I was wearing a Colt Detective Special at the time, I was tempted to see if a 135-grain Winchester Self Defense +P would get me a Christmas dinner. ;)

Couple of years ago we had a flock of turkeys that were coming round the house. They discovered the cat food in the garage, so one day I snuck the remote out of the car and waited for them to start eating the cat food.I closed the garage door and trapped a 1/2 dozen in with our 2 cars. After a brief chase I tackled a hen on top of my car and took her in the house under my arm to show my wife. She was NOT impressed. Let the hen go and did not have much of a problem with them after that!

I used to live on the water in Virginia, and we had ducks all over the place. I was working in the yard, with the garage door open, and a flock of immature ducks came around the side of the house passing in front of the open door.

I made a run at them, hoping to drive some into the garage. There was an explosion of ducks -- like busting a covey of quail, but magnified by a hundred times.

They all landed in the road, maybe twenty yards away, and waddled off, talking to each other, "Did you SEE that pervert?" "No telling WHAT he would have done if he had got one of us in that garage!"

A few months back, we started having about 2 dozen turkeys around our place. They roost in the trees near one corner of our 40, and then traverse diagonally right by the house over to a neighbor to eat with their chickens, and then back each afternoon to roost again.

About thanksgiving the number increased to about 40, and now there are at least 60 of them. Seems the homeless turkeys have found a home. :)

Sometimes they walk right by my office window, about 10 feet from where i sit at the PC.

One evening there was a string of them, like ants, from the top of the rimrock clear down into the coulee that bisects our porperty.

I will try to post some pictures after we manage to get them downloaded from the new camera ...

So how many are in your freezer?

My wife names the turkeys, and says I can't shoot anything with a name -- I told her to name one gobbler "Thanksgiving," and another one "Christmas." :D

Here's a photo with seven....there were actually 15 total, couldn't get them all in the frame. These were under my deer stand during bow season.

Man how I wish Texas had two turkey seasons...I have to wait until April. Here's the gobbler I took last April:

 Dig me, ya got a current TP&W Outdoor Annual handy? Turkey season right now in most counties - even hens in some counties thru Jan. 2.

Actually that's a Bastrop county rule. Bastrop Country is where my land is...I haven't even looked at any other counties as I typically have no hunting options anywhere else.

Of course not -- if it were turkey season, you'd spend all day trying to find just ONE turkey.

You know, they get copies of the fish and game regulations, just like we do. :D

You ain't kiddin'! :banghead:
Had turkeys fly out of the tree I was sitting under while hunting deer this year.
Last year while scouting a few weeks early I walked up on a hen nesting. she waited til I got about 6' from her before she flew off. One month later - Not a bird to be seen!
While hunting 'em this past spring I had another hen pop up out of the grass about 15 ft. from where I had just sat down. Of course she went running through the woods barking and squalking and pretty much letting every other bird know I was there and that I DID in fact have a shotgun.
I could be wrong but I think I saw a tom give me the finger(feather) from about 80 yards out too :cuss:

When my house was under construction, I was sitting waiting for a turkey, and the so-and-so, instead of answering MY call, answered the roofer's HAMMER. I'd hear the hammer banging and then the turkey gobbling! :what:
