How many "Unique" powders?

Just stated reloading last spring. Have 8 powders for three cartridges. But I reload for cast lead and jacketed, so that complicates things.

Dangerously low on A5744. Wish ya’ll would just cool it for a while.

There is only one Unique. ;)
I try to consolidate powders whenever possible, but lately, this has proven hard to do. My go to powders are BL-C(2) (.223) IMR 3031 (.30-30, 7.62x54R, and back-up for .223) IMR 4064 (7.62x54R and back-up fpr .223) Bullseye (.45 ACP & .38 Spl.) AA#5 (same) and Green Dot (12 ga., and back up .45 and .38)

I like to shoot pistols, and like to experiment, so I have a bunch of pistol powders on hand, some in jugs bigger than one pound, but a lot of partial one pounders.

Rifle I don’t play so much, but I have several rifle powders, some in eight pounders.

With both, if I settle on something I really like, I buy a four or eight when I run low on the original one pounder.

Well let's see... H1000, H335, CFE Pistol, Accurate #9, Titegroup, IMR 4451, W748, Lil Gun, think that's it right now? Anybody know where I can get some Retumbo? ;)
Can i ask what you use your lil gun to load for? I have some and ppl say it good for .22 hornet.

To the OP, I hope you realize there is a Unique powder?

Your subject line word was in quotes so I’m presuming so.

This piqued my curiosity as well, I haven’t met a powder I don’t like, but just working up loads for 9mm:
Target
Titegroup
N320
AA2
SP
231
244
Universal
PP
N330
WSF
N340
AA5
CFE Pistol

And the BE86 and 3n37 arrived so that’s next on the list, still waiting on N310. Other pistol calibers have similar lists. I lost count on the entire list of powders, don’t have enough digits. I’m going to label myself as Obsessive, before everyone else does! Good luck.

I have a 2 pronged strategy. I have first line powders that I use for known loads. H38, Unique, HS6, H110, IMR4064 and Imr4350. So six "unique" powders. I will likely be adding either 748 or BL C2, both are in testing phase, due to the 7TCU cartridge now in my stable.

Prong 2 is "random stuff" acquired at sales, impulse buys, experiments. This is used for blammo and trying new things. The variety is ever changing, I believe it currently consists of 10 or so powders in various quantities of 1 to 12 pounds.

I like to experiment with different loads, and keep copious notes on a spreadsheet of every round loaded. Right now I have 23 different pistol powders and 12 rifle powders. Also, 6 different pistol primers and 4 different rifle primers, plus over 60 different bullets. I'm probably set for the next 5 years, except for maybe some more pistol primers. I hope the shortage doesn't last long!

I have 6 to pick from, but I don't reload anything smaller than 44 mag, I give those away, I also don't go to range much anymore.
BL-C 2
HS 6
4895
296
748
760
You do a lot of volumetric powder measuring?
Looks like a lot of ball powders except 4895.

I'm very old school on reloading, but I guess my lee dippers can be called that :)

I started reloading 45-70 a few years back with the Lee "whack a mole" kit! No scale, no nothing. Just dippers and what they said was in their based on powder being used. Such a caveman without measuring out the powder! :)

I started this thread because, I went looking at the amount of different powders I had for my small amount of calibers I reload for and was quite surprised at what I had accumulated. It's one thing to have 10 lbs of one powder. But I just have a rather large diversity in my powder I just didn't realize I had.

I reload as much as I can but there are a few odd ball calibers that it is just too expensive to make the attempt.
I now reload;
Pistol
.380acp
9mm
.40S&W
.45auto
Rifle
.223/5.56
6.5 Creedmoor
350 Legend
.300 Blackout
7.62x39
7.62x54r
.308
My powders look like this, so I have many ways of reloading each caliber.

Keep it. Sometimes a different bullet or gun doesn't work well with your preferred powder. It your preferred isn't available.
