How much ammo do you carry?

How many reloads, if any, do you carry per concealed carry gun?

I used to carry 6 in the gun and a spare speed loader. I just got back from Thunder Ranch though and now I carry as many as I can, in as many places as I can. Which means, I'm working my way up to four, five, or six speed loaders, and two or three speed strips. Right now it is four speed loaders (two in each front pocket, you guys are working on left handed reloads, right?), and two speed strips (one in each back pocket, for if I need/want to tactical load).

Oh yea, did I mention the backup gun? An Extra 6 there and can be reloaded with the speed strips.

I carry a couple of speedloaders. When conditions dictate i will bring an extra box. I try to keep some small boxes of Hornady as a backup ammo supply.

Normally I will carry 1 Colt 1991A1 Government Model and an extra magazine. If I feel the need for more I will add a Colt 1991A1 Compact.

Hey Big Boomer, I was looking at your photo. Do they use the Euro in Texas? Wow, Texas really is a totally different country.

Well it's not like I have any American money lying around :D

I was trying that artistic "flair"

Also for those of you that happen to carry extra ammo I think we all forgot to mention how much we carry in the vehicle. For me, it's at least 2 boxes of each caliber that I could be carrying. It always stays in the car, one of these days I am going to get arrested while going on base because I always forget that it's there!

1 reload, which is enough for malfunctions or bad aim in our little corner of the world. Beyond that, it's probably time to stop fooling around with handguns and sling up the trusty 870.

I'm honestly surprised to see that twice as many carry one reload as carry only what's in the gun. I don't carry a reload, preferring to carry something with double-digit capacity, but to those who do, I say 'more power to ya.'

In my case, I suppose I intend to fight and slink my way to my car where my AK is waiting for me to provide reinforcement.

I tote a Wilson Combat .45 strongside and 2 mags weakside (24 rds) when carrying conceiled. In my truck, at all times, I have a fanny pack with 5 loaded mags and a 50 rd. box of spare ammo.

A firearm without sufficient ammo for dire emergencys reminds me of an airplane taking off with half of the runway behind it. All that runway behind you and all the ammo you ain't got are USELESS. Though I have never needed any of my ammo to date, I have been very fortunate to have ALL of the runuway at my disposal a time or two, and very, very glad that I did.

Thanks, everyone, for your participation. Now, if ever I need an expert witness to back up my carrying reloads, Mas Ayoob will be able to report that more than 75% of respondents carry at least ONE reload.

"Hurray for our side!"

I carry a speed strip, its not so much for defence, as a reload after I practice at the range.
Its just a S&W 642 that likes its fodder refreshed.

Wait....

What the Hell...

Is this?

I've been here for a while, I don't think I've ever seen that!

Ocelot, is that yours? Or should I call you 47, or how about Neo? Don't think I'm knocking it, cause I'm not... I wat one! (Or rather, two, in this case, but make mine 1911s!)

ETA: Who makes that shoulder rig?

m66 six inch
2 speed loaders, and what's left of the box loose in my weak hand leather jacket pocket(it zips closed)
