JP from Phoenix, have a blast at the range. I remember my first few trips on the range myself.
since my gun range aint that far away from home, i still do get to take my time at the range. i do create some real life self-defense scenarios and practice them...maybe dry firing your gun and create a situation........that can be a lot of fun and very very educational.
If you have time, try to get a hand on the gun magazine "Combat Handguns" ......for each issue, there is an article called "Tactics"
That's where Ive gathered all the scenarios that i use for range practice.. most of it may look easy to do on the range but it will take more than a few trips to master it.. so take your time and enjoy.
After all, IMO, the shooting sport is not just a sport for me but i began to be hooked on shooting because of the fact that I gained knowledge on defensive shooting which could save my, our & other people's lives.
I use reloads on target practice to save money. i save all my spent shells on previously bought new ammos then have it reloaded.
I do not use hollowpoints on practice. it is quite expensive and should be kept for home defense loads only. It is of no use whatsoever on practice days..not unless you are keeping score on ammo tests...
Lastly, hope you dont mind me asking.. what is the make & model of your gun? do you have any photos?
Thanks!! happy & safe shooting!!!
