Just built some new target frames for the farm complete with swingers. 8" plates 3/4" thick, arm is 5/8 X 1 1/2" pivoting on a 3/4" pin. Not too worried about handgun and blackpowder, but highpower rifle rounds concern me. How hot a round can these take before it looks like swiss cheese?

Highpower rifle rounds will probably go right through it if it's not armor. .308 will for sure, .223 will leave divots (assuming lead core). Judging from the wear and tear on my non-armor steel targets, limit the shooting to pistols, .22's, maybe .30 carbine at most.

Yep - nice fillet welds. :)

Plates tho ''look'' no more than 1/2". Just an illusion I guess.

All main rifle stuff will I know punch thru 1/2" but maybe this thickness will last longer - expect deep cratering tho in short order!!

Can't help wanting these for my .454 practice!! :D

Plates are two 3/8" plates laminated together to make the 3/4" thickness. I could add another 3/8" to get it up to 1 1/8"....afraid it would be so heavy a .22 would barely make it swing.

Haha - even now they won't ''notice'' a .22! LOL!

Nah - go with em as they are and just be a tad ''economical'' with the high power rifle shots!

I still want these for my .454 tho - and the 45-70 BFR would do good too! :p
