How much did you lose in the "panic season"?

I lost nothing, held onto my stock for the most part. As was said, I guess I lost some time inquiring about .22LR at Wal-mart. Here lately, I don't even bother. Bought a ton of 00 buck, but the prices hadn't changed, so it was just a cushion.

By the books, overall, I came out ahead.

I was confident from the beginning that nothing would be banned, so I sold part of what I had (ammo, magazines, a rifle) at below current market price (FAST sales) but definitely above what I paid in the first place, and above what it cost to replace (though I haven't quite replaced all the .22lr ammo yet, I'm better-stocked on the rest than I was at the onset)

I did make a stupid over priced purchase of a S&W M&P 15-22 though. I paid at least a couple hundred too much. argh

I personally didn't lose anything, but my local gun shop outgrew its space twice in six years.

First they had a tiny, dusty place stuck way in back of an alley.

Then they moved to a nice, well-lit warehouse type building on a main road.

Now they're the size of a small supermarket right on a highway about a mile off the interstate.

Good for them.

The irony is that there's a Cabela's about thirty miles away, not close but not really that far away for a serious buyer. I wonder if they're getting nervous!

Didn't lose at all. Sold 5500 rds of my 9mm stash @ .40/ rd which I bought for .08/rd. Came out to 8K rds free and a $400 profit. And no, I didn't plan for this. Sold quite a few magazines for crazy money, replaced them for 1/4 the price. Sold a Mini 14 for $600 more than I paid for it and replaced it with a Colt 6920 (for $150 more than they are now). This kind of "business" is despicable but no more than oil companies raising the price of gas $. 15/gal when oil is down under $90/bbl (and nobody complaining about that). I have a stash of .22 Wallyboxes that I paid about .02/rd that would sell for .10/rd. Not interested, even though I could replace it in the Spring for .04/rd. I am tired of this nonsense. We are fixing to enter 2 years of madness where one "mass shooting" will cause Knee-jerk looney response and possibly another "panic." Rough times for the Republic. Joe

Roughly $4000 out of my bank account and safe. But I replaced it with some nice FUDD guns people were dumping to fund their over priced black guns.

There were some good deals out there on some older .22 rifles that I saw on the used rack out of sheer frustration over the ammo situation. I picked up an old Mossberg and narrowly missed a Remington 512.

I saw a few used 9mm pistols for good prices, same basic reason.

Haven't really lost anything. In fact, been able to find and procure a few "always wanted" items here lately. I think it's really a buyer's market right now, compared to 2 or 3 years ago.

In reality some quality range time because I did not want to shoot my typical brick/week of .22LR. For over a year I have shot only in competition.

There's too much very recent history to know that it's foolish to buy when all heck is breaking loose.

Attended a local gun show yesterday. Gun prices were decent, pretty much all-around, but ammo prices were stupid as usual. Anybody that pays that is contributing to the problem. I bought nothing.

I lost the idea that when I felt like shooting my 22 I would just walk into a variety of places and buy what I needed for that day not for the next 3000 years

I only lost....by not selling a few items. But it renewed an interest to update my collection....much to the chagrin of my wife.

I have spent more than I should have on reloading components. Other than that, nothing at all.

I overpayed by $30 for an LCR during the panic but i had to scratch that itch. Since i quit shooting for going on two years now i've more than made up for it. BTW the wally here still doesn't have rimfire on the shelves.

I made money and found some deals. I did pay a little bit more for some powder and some 5.56 bullets, but it worked out to a loss of about $30 total.

I sold a Century Arms underfolder for a healthy profit and used the cash to purchase an Arsenal SLR 106 at regular price that was available locally. I did purchase some mags for it, but they are always high and haven't come down at all.

I actually found some unexpected deals. I went to Keep Shooting at the height of the panic and found they were producing mags for FAL's and they guaranteed them to work. This will make FAL guys cringe, but I paid $20 a piece for them. The days of $3 mags are long gone and I started late.

I picked up an Imbel parts kit from Enterprise complete with barrel. While not the good ol' days prices, it was fair recent market. The barrel is in great shape and it has a matching bolt and bolt carrier. It has heavy finish loss, but the barrel gauged a 0 at both ends. Sarco got in virgin chrome-lined Argy barrels too and they were cheap.

AIM got in a bunch of M1891/30 PU rifles. They were the actual snipers and had been verified by a few sources online. I picked one up and didn't scoff at the price. They are a rare bird and it came complete and lightly rearsenalled.

The CMP got in some sporadic rifles and I picked a few up including what appears to be a Dane straggler with a VAR barrel, lockbars and some Beretta parts, a 1903 Springfield and a 1903a3. The a3 is correct. They also got in some odd lots of M2-AP and even some spam cans of M2 at various points. I also picked up a Daisy match pellet rifle and 500 pellets for $100 bucks.

Don't get me wrong. I purchased quite a lot, but I didn't pay crazy prices and just looked outside the supply and demand chain. If it had a detachable magazine and an ominous black color, I by and large avoided it. I wanted an AR pistol, but picked up lowers before the panic so I wasn't worried.

I did very well buyng up all of the great revolvers people were dumping so that they could buy $600 Rifles for $2,000.

I lost nothing... nada. I bought nothing at inflated prices during the panic. I am doing all my buying of mags and ammo now... prices might never be greater.

I managed to get ONE brick of .22lr last years and ONE brick of .22lr this year. So, instead of shooting thousands of .22lr per year, I am down to shooting hundreds.

PRobably would have shot a few thousand more rounds, so I lost out on the enjoyment and practice time of that. I also would be reloading by now.
