Ok guys I trying to decide of I should join a range it's pistols only as far as I can tell which I shoot the most of anyways so I'm just curious what y'all pay as a membership at your range this one is iirc $150 for a year or $25 dollars an hour:eek:

"It depends"

The big outdoor range I use is under 200. The local indoor range is >300

I'm thinking that if I was expecting to be doing very much shooting there, I would definitely become a member! Fortunately, I only need to walk about 150 ft. from my back door to my own "range", (if you could call it that! )

I'm also fortunate again to have a very nice range about 3 or 4 miles from my house, but I haven't done any shooting there for a few years now.

Mine is $240 a year with a $400+ initiation fee. This is what you get for that:

185 acre range site. The grounds include 185 acres of planned land which offers 15, 25, 50 and 100 yard covered pistol and rifle firing points, five skeet and trap fields, two archery ranges, a practical pistol range, 5-stand sporting clays, 2 sporting clays courses, and a 200-600 high power rifle range.

Each of these areas are equipped with separate target storage facilities, and where necessary, are partitioned with high earthen berms which will ensure safety.

Overhead baffles on the 50 and 100 yard ranges will prevent a misdirected shot from escaping from the firing area. Firing is restricted entirely to proper paper targets, or approved silhouette targets correctly hung in appropriate firing areas. Plinking or firing at cans, bottles, etc., is strictly prohibited.

In addition to the firing facilities, the owns the necessary heavy equipment for the maintenance of the grounds, and facilities.

Indoor restrooms are provided at the clubhouse and on the covered firing line on the rifle and pistol ranges.

The office of The Association is located in the Clubhouse. The office is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until dark

$175/year to join. It is $5/visit to use the rifle/pistol range or $25/year. I write the check for $200. A little pricey, but it has some other advantages. There is a sporting clays course, skeet and 5 stand which also cost extra that I rarely use.

I get unlimited use of a 300 yard rifle range and a separate 50 yard handgun range. There is a lake for fishing and camping available. They have a clubhouse and sponsor different events through out the year.

$160 a year-$80 NRA Discount=$80 year. 7 a/w and pistol bays, 2 covered rifle bays and trap. Combination locks...any time daylight access...no 50 cal.

50 at my local club where you can shoot from 25 yards out to 300yrds plus they have a 3D Archery round set up,the other range I belong to is 40 a year and you can shoot out to 600 yards, our public range is ok now that the city is improving it but I only shoot there if no one else is there or I know the other people there, can get a bit scary when it's full of deer hunters sighting in for deer season.

$40 per year. It's a smallish range with 20, 50, and 150 yd. It caters more for skeet/clay shoots. The do offer a few pistol and advance pistol courses.

Not the greatest, but it offers a place to practice. :)

Two clubs I'm a member of here. One is 9 outdoor pits or ranges, plus indoor pistol range, trap, and archery for $75 per year for the family.

The other is a smaller place with a 100 yard rifle range, one large pistol bay, and a second large pistol bay filled with a ~1,000 sq. ft. shoot house, and a "jungle walk" shotgun course. That one's $25 per year.

I joined a sportsmans club. I has rifle to 150 yds, pistol pits, 5 stand, trap, skeet, hiking trails, archery range, fising lake, stocked with boats, BBQ area, lounge area, motorized carts to get you around. On site store to rent rifles, pistols and shotguns and buy ammo, targets ect. Cost is a bit high $1000.00 /yr. I can be there in 30 mins.

$45 per year. Very nice outdoor range with covered benches, range out to 200 yards rifle. Also has handgun and two trap ranges. Only downside is 4 hour drive for me now, but after being a member for 25 years I keep it up so the club has funds even if I only get out maybe once per year while visiting my folks.

Otherwise stuck with indoor pistol ranges (all quite short and plenty expensive -- regular visits surely add up to over $300 per year). There are a bunch of public trap areas nearby which are ok. Finding centerfire rifle ranges in NE Illinois is tough. Mostly end up driving 75 miles to public ranges in Indiana, and then only 100 yard facilities. Most private rifle ranges are at least an hour plus drive from Chicago and run over $300. But the real challenge is they all have limited memberships so can end up taking years to join one.

150.00 a year. Covered outdoor ranges, include large bore rifle, small bore rifle, pistol, air range, archery range, dog training area camping for events, we host a number of boy scouts weekend events and a number of NRA classes. Is located in a very urban area and only 2 miles from my house. Limited to 1200 members but week day shooting is very light, most days I am the only one at the range.

I belong to 2 different ranges,1 has nice out door set up for rifle and pistol. The other has several very nice indoor ranges one of which allows anything short of 50 caliber Browning. Total cost for the 2 is $275 a year.

40$/year
25 ,50,100,200 yard pistol/ rifle range 10 bay.
Covered with shooting benches,
Skeet/trap range.
lakes for fishing.
Club house with bathrooms.

$280.00 year membership and $15.00 month assesment= $460.00/yr. plus minimum of 5 volunteer hours (10 for first year) working for the club.

"We have: 50ft, 25yd, 50yd, 100yd, 200yd, and 600yd outdoor Rifle/Pistol ranges can handle any rimfire or centerfire firearm legal, including .50 BMG. Two Skeet fields, three Trap fields, 5-Stand and a ten station/100 shot Sporting Clays course. Archery includes Field and 3D ranges.

There are three stocked fishing ponds on the property. Limited hunting opportunities are available with the proper state and club permits. Future plans call for camping on site."

There's not much other choice in my AO.

I marked up to $200.00 annually.

I shoot at a private for profit indoor range. Annual membership is $60.00. Then a $10.00 per use fee, and $1.00 per target. It's money well spent. I know all the guys who work there, it's always clean, well lit, and everything works. The best thing is mall ninjas and assorted unsafe folks are quickly shown the door. Only happened once.

My trap club is $45/year (or an additional $1/round of trap for non-members) and the (outdoor) rifle/pistol range I go to is $30/year (or $5 per visit for non-members).

Both numbers are approximate (can't be bothered to look it up) but within about $5 of the actual amount.

$200 for the first year, $130 for the following years. $3.00 per visit weekdays the range is open for 4 hours, Fridays and weekend open for 8 hours.

Outdoor range about 3 miles from my house, $80/year, +$5 per person, per visit. Went up from $3 last year, I hope they use some of the new money to put down some ground cover - lots of blowing dirt in So Colorado! Otherwise a nice range, 2 x 25(?) yd rifle/pistol ranges with plates, 6 x 100-425 yd rifle ranges, 1 x 600 yd range, 6 x pistol ranges with plates, 2 x shotgun ranges, 2 x archery ranges. All but the shotgun ranges and the short rifle ranges are covered. Over 1K members they tell me, and they hold a lot of events there, but it's big enough that I can almost always find a place to set up, and they manage to keep nearly all of the dangerous behavior to a minimum, unlike some ranges in the area that I used to frequent.

Small indoor range about 15 miles from home, 10 lanes, only 50ft, but nicely kept up, another $80 per year. My cold-weather place; electronic locks, open to members 24/7, video surveillance to keep an eye on things.
