Just wondering how much people in other states pay for FFL transfers when buying guns off the Internet. Here in California, it seems most places charge around 80 bucks and many will charge over $100

Every now and then Ill see an Internet deal like this, http://www.summitgunbroker.com/Glock_22.html .. and Ill be all stoked about buying it and then I remember how much the transfer fees are around here :(

$15 here at my local pawn shop.

I strongly recommend getting to know your local pawnbroker. They will charge you less than gun stores will, and without the "you should have bought it from me for $100 more" attitude!

Wow.. we are getting jacked :(

Interestingly enough, the cheapest place around here is a pawn shop that charges $75.. they are a gun shop also though with new and used inventory.

My local pawnbroker started at $20, but as the business kept me coming in for transfers, he dropped it to $10. You can see where I live.

My father lives in Texas and has a local guy do his transfers. They do enough business and like each other enough that the guy doesn't like to take money for it anymore. My dad just leaves a $10 bill on the counter anyway.

A guy I will be doing business with soon does FFL transfers for $15. I called another person first (whose price was not listed on auction arm's website - so called to check if it was lower) and he said it was $35. I'm thinking "it takes you hardly any time and work at all to do this and just about everyone else around here does it for much less" then I respectfully respond: "That is too much for me." He then interjects and asks what the rifle cost is (<300). Now he seems angry for some reason. "If you can't spend $35 (on this transaction) then you aint my kind of customer." I reply, "Well, thank you for your time." Then he hung up on me, while grunting. Some people, eh?

I'm in Calif. and pay $40 per transfer. More than that would bug me, but so far, so good.

A transfer essentially runs me $50-$100, because I typically poke around the shop for odds and ends while they do my $15 transfer.

the closest to me in NC charges 75 for hg and 100 for a long gun... needless to say i don't use him. jackass.

The $25-35 is about average around MD and PA, sometimes free for a good customer. In MD, $35 or more might include the state fee for transfer approval.

Sometimes there is no posted fee. If you buy something "on the net" that the dealer has in stock, and then tell him he is an a**hole and charges too much, the transfer fee just might be a lot higher.

But always work out the fee in advance before the dealer sends his FFL; that way there is no surprise later.
