How much reloaded ammo do you keep on hand?

I'd say probably a few hundred of 9mm and 1000 of 45acp on hand right now.

Likewise, a few hundred each of .38, .40 and .45. I don't feel the need to load until I run out of bullets or primers.

the last i checked a had about 3000 rounds loaded. mostly .38 spl because thats the brass i got most often. i haven't taken my .357 mag to the range for quite awhile but i did get there a few times and scrounged .38 spl brass after shooting my 1022 custom. i also bought once fired brass at gunshows and it seems they were mostly .38 spls. a lot of my reloaded ammo is in paper boxes but a good freind just gave me some plastic ammo boxes to put em in. actually we made a deal for me to resize some 30-06 brass for him in exchange for the ammo boxes.

I am cheap and lazy. When I buy, I try and buy in bulk for the specific caliber I want. I am lazy and despite the ease at which the Dillon 550b can convert calibers, I would rather not. I am so lazy that I even hate to change the powder thrower until the next caliber. whan I am done with one I move to the next caliber.

To answer your question, lots and lots. When it's range time I want the bullets. It kills me have unloaded components at home and empty mags at the range.

I am still experimenting to much to load in bulk. I have about 500 9mm, 100 223 and just bought 38/357 dies and brass and don't have bullets yet.

Lots . . . let's just say that if the fertilizer ever hits the fan blades, I WON'T be taken-out because I ran out of ammo . . .

once i do the load development for a new firearm and find the load that meets my needs i load a ton. typically 5k for each pistol, 1k for each bolt gun and 3k for each auto loading rifle. i don't load for my shotguns but i have 1k in slugs for my pump and 2k #7shot for my auto. all told i have way more ammo than i am going to admit to on a public forum. :uhoh:

I always said a gun with no ammo is worthless, i got a few rounds for all mine, 45 acp, 44 mag, 357,38, 44 spec, 45 lc, dont load shot gun shells i just buy them, need a set of 45/70 dies, and 40 sw dies, and im all set , on those cold wet days i can sit back and load what i have cases for:D csa

I have a couple five gallon buckets full for each of the two hand guns I shoot most often. That's a 38 super and forty five both on 1911 frames. For my rifles I have thousands of rounds for each caliber. Most of them surplus because I tend to shoot up the reloads I make.

i keep at least 200 rds of everything i shoot on hand, so far, that seems enough, but, diff ppl have diff needs. you will just have to do a little record keeping, but, keep enough backup for "emergencies". to each his own.

thanks guys, I feel a little better about stocking it up now.

It ain't going to go bad, is it?

More than 10K

I am currently rotating my ammo and am shooting some I loaded in 1985 and 1986. I try to reload any empty brass so I maintain approx. 10 to 11 K at all times.

I keep it in my gun safe for the weight - never had any go bad but then all of the stuff I loaded in the 80s and 90s has Federal primers.

For reloading supplies I try to keep enough to reload all the brass - for .45 ACP I load the brass until it develops splits or I loose it on the range.

I think I've affected the force of gravity with the mass of lead in my basement! When it gets to be too much I go out and shoot some off. Somehow I end up reloading more than I shoot however. Shoot 100, load 200. Shoot 200 load 400.... I think my family is planning an intervention for me next week!

I usually buy 500 or 1000 bullets at a time, load them up, shoot them up, buy more. Right now I have 600 45 FMJs and 500-600 45 lead bullets and a few hundred 9mm.

If Shrillary gets the nom BUY AND RELOAD until the election and as long after as possible. Heck, do the same if Rudy gets the nom, too.
