I just got a Kel-Tec p3at 380... The size and weight make is a great carry gun... would have liked to wait for the Ruger... but thought I needed a good light summer gun....

How many rounds can you put through it... someone told me sight it in 20 rounds or so and just carry it... it's not meant for shooting... I saw your post and have read the reviews on these little guns and looks like people are putting hundreds of rounds through them... I would like to shoot a little with it each week at the range to keep me fresh with it... can you run 20 some odd rounds a week through one of these?

P3-AT duty cycle

I don't believe a person can put enough rounds through a P3-AT to do any damage to the pistol. I have one, and I like yourself thought about how many rounds I would need to put through it to make it function reliably as a CCW. The simple fact remains that it is just not that comfortable to shoot, due to its relatively small size and the stiffness of its perceived recoil. The weapon is meant to be a concealable carry weapon; rather than a "plinker." Having said that, I do think a person needs to take it to the range every now and then to remain proficient at drawing the weapon, aquiring targets and hitting them. Furthermore, there are less expensive options for plinking. Enjoy your P3-AT!

Other wise shoot the thing till your hearts content.

One caution: They are really light and made of thin metals. They get hot FAST! Have mercy on it and don't put more than a few mags at a time through it to keep the temps from getting too high.

Wrap your fingers around the slide with it in your palm...if it is too hot, you will know! If it is too hot to hold, it is too hot to keep shooting.

I have one myself that I've only put a few hundred rounds, but heard of many putting thousands of rounds without a problem. It's beyond me why someone would want to shoot thousdands of not so cheap 380 ammo through it when (I feel) it's not a very fun gun to shoot for long.....trigger guads scrapes my shooting finger.

I'm always surprised at its ultra thin barrel.....I'm sure that thing gets uber hot if you go through several mags quickly.

All the gun stores I went to said they have a 1,000-1,200rd life span.

I have mine nearing a 1000 rounds and near half that has been Corbon 90grHP and DPX. Hey if you wear it out they will fix or replace
Had my P3AT trigger guaged today. Broke at 7.9 lbs. My stock Colt Commander went 4.1 lbs We did a 1911 Springer and it was 5.8 lbs.

KT is a great outfit to deal with.

If you're going to shoot more than 1,000 rounds out of a mini, you need to get a primary.

I can't even imagine reaching a point where I'd hit 1,000 rounds out of a BUG. Shoot it until you determine it is reliable and then hide it.

i can not imagine that any gun would wear out in 1000 rounds. if you ONLY shoot 1 box a month to stay proficient, in 20 months, the pistol would be worn out. i think this is very unlikely. i do not think that anyone would consider this acceptable. warranty or not. if you were talking in the 5-6000 round area, to have to go back to the factory for a "tune up" that wouldnt be terrible, but even that seems pretty light duty to me. i do understand it is a light duty gun, meant for ccw purposes. but the owner does need to shoot, a gun that can not be shot, should be a very pretty collectors item. and the keltec is not all that pretty, nor a collectors item.
