How often do you polish pistol brass?

I clean & polish them every time.

Deprime, then citric-acid-solution bath, then, after dry, into one of the vibratory case cleaners with corncob media with a bit of polish added.

With filthy range pickup brass I will first wash them in a Simple Green or Dawn solution.

I tumble mine in SS media, prime it then tumble it in corn cob media. It gets my brass super shiny every time. I do that after every trip to the range.

Flitz and corn cob will make them SHINE!
Left some in longer than normal one time had a hard time telling brass from nickel plated in bright light.:)

I clean my brass after each firing. There is no way I want to run dirty brass thru my dies.

A friend picked up some walnut shell media from a pet store.
It was very finely ground material compared to the regular stuff usually sold for tumbling,. it is also very very dusty too.
Is this typical of pet store walnut shell media?

As with most folks, i polish after firing so its easier on the dies. And if i have a batch of brass that had been resized and has tarnished a bit, i will throw them in the tumbler for a couple hours before loading them.

I don't know about using a polish per se, but I always tumble in corn cob media before I spray lube it and load it. The only fouling I want in the chamber is from the current firing, not the junk from the last time. Particularly the extractor groove. If you lock up your extractor, you're down for the count.

I ultrasonic clean, deprime and size then tumble polish every time. Keeps the dies happy and the look good when done. Clean shells go a long way to keeping magazines clean.
