How often should an 1851 rep. be completely disassembled and cleaned?

I usually only clean the bore, cylinder, and nipples. It's true that nasty stuff gets everywhere eventually. However, if you really clean the surfaces and do your best to scrape out any gaps or crevices, these guns will go a long time without a breakdown or impairment of function. I live in a moderately humid climate. I can see how tropical climes would be more challenging.

The ratcheting wrench sold by the Possible Shop is excellent. Great power, just reverse the grip to remove/install. A fine product.
