How prepared are we?

Thermos cooking is a powerful tool.

In larger quantities, bring the pot to a rolling boil on your heat source.

Put a double folded towel in the bottom of a styrofoam ice chest. Place the boiling pot of beans and rice onto the towel in the chest, place another towel or two around the pot, a layer or two of towels over the pot and put the lid on the ice chest.

When ready to eat, remove ONLY the towel over the lid of the pot and the lid, ladle out what you want to eat, quickly replace lid and towel, put lid back on ice chest and food will keep hot for another day or more.

I have done meats the same way.

Cut meat into chunks of an ounce or two, add vegetables, etc. Add water, bring to rolling boil for a few minutes, put into chest with all the towels and put lid on ice chest. Check back in 12 hours or more!!! Best stew you have ever eaten!!!

If this is done in a large pot, reheat to boiling for ten minutes once a day and replace into insulated chest, wrapped in towels. This will keep the contents from spoiling and the food gets better each day!!!
