How reliable are firearms from GSG?

same gun slightly different look. i like the older look better. incase someone is intrested in the traditional look with out all the new details, umarex is also producing an mp5 replica licenced by h&k themselves. reliability with mines is ok. still get some jams with cci mini mags. off topic but is the gsg 1911 out yet? been waiting for this gun for like a year.

Yep, they're out. I think I'm really going to like mine. I just posted this at TheFiringLine:

Plinking with the GSG 1911 .22lr
I got one of these yesterday, took it out shooting today, and have to say I'm pretty happy with it. Just shot at cans and plastic bottles at 15-25 yards, and it seems fairly accurate. Can't really say how it groups though. I can say it's less picky about ammo than my Sig Mosquito. I shot about 350 rounds today:

Federal AutoMatch ~about 100 rounds(100% reliable)
Federal Champion value pack ~about 100 rounds(100%)
Winchester Super X HP -- 50 rounds(two rounds failed to feed--this ammo jams the heck out of my Mosquito)
Federal Game Shok -- 50 rounds(100%)
CCI MiniMags --50 rounds(100%)

thanks i'll be visiting the shop tomorrow. might even trade my sw 22a for it.

I bought a GSG 5P in Nov 08 got rid of it in Jan 09, it shot ok but close examination left me skeptical about it's long term reliability. It was heavy and left me wanting something that handled easier and would stand the test of time.

I did precisely the same thing for the same reason.

It was fun to shoot, but not built for the long run.

FINALLY a 22 I actually want

When I get home from vaca. in about a week, the GSG5 will be my next purchase! I've been holding off on buying a 1st rifle because I want a mini-14 tact. but it's down the line behind a 1st inexpensive 45, an inexpensive pistol that shoots 410/45lc & this gun, which for under $500 is very doable.
As soon as I saw it I thought "No f'n way!"...but yes, f'n way. So thanks to you gents who have posted here & of course the nice dealers on BG, I'm about to order 1. Now I just gotta see if I can get 1 with decent mags included.

Gsg-522/5

When I got my GSG-522 I loved it, except for a few issues...like the goofy U-notch rear sight and the open front sight, and the skinny selector...oh, and the fact that it would "double" or "triple" randomly....and that amazingly skinny barrel with little "meat" to resist chamber pressure.
But it shot GREAT! No FTF or FTE with ANY ammo fed to it, and the magazines are not only reliable, but constructed of materials that will hold up well under any conditions.
So....after I figured out the hammer strut needed to be modified so the hammer ended up in contact with the bolt, and the sear housing spring needed to be stonger, combined with a recut sear/hammer engagement, the GSG became a "100%" rifle.
Now I have zero worries about early opening causing a chamber blowout, or cracked bolt housing, or those not-so-infrquent doubles and triples.
Oh, and I replaced the reas sight with one from www.rrages.com - a REAL HK sight, and I did the -522 to -5 mod to put back the ring front sight and large, paddle selector, and the "crescent" cocking handle....
NOW my GSG is as close to perfect as possible.
