How reliable is ammunitiontogo.com?

I recently bought two 250 round boxes of remington Golden sabers in 45 acp from ammunitiontogo. I looked them over and they look fine except there is no red sealant around the primer. every time I have bought the ammo from somewhere else there has been the red sealant around the primer. I read that they sell reloads. However, the ones I bought are advertised as factory ammo. I haven't shot them yet but I dont want to run reloaded ammo if I dont know the person who is reloading them. Has anyone bought from them? If so how was the quality? Should I worry? Also, should I test a box or two before I put them in my SD handgun? Any comments or suggestions would be great!

Not all factory ammunition has red sealant. Don't sweat it.

Remington on their website claims Golden Sabers have sealed primers and bullets for long life.

Unless they switched to some sort of clear sealer, I would be suspect. A quick email to them would clear up the sealer color and if its still red, it looks like you got reloaded ammo.

It could also be a run of seconds where the sealer being applied, didn't apply.

I ordered Golden Sabres from the-armory.com and they didn't come with the red sealant either. They came with a clear sealant around the primers.

Dunno what it means but the 9mm GS I bought from Cheaper Than Dirt (and currently stuffed in my G19) don't have any sealant on the primers.

I don't recall any red sealant on the GS I've gotten from various places. I better put my SEAL-esque underwater excursions on hold for now.

What exactly IS the red sealant anyway? Loctite? Because that's what it seems like to me.

Waiting on a couple thousand rounds from ATG I ordered a week ago. Should be here tomorrow. Super fast service and they had HST in stock (I think they're out again however).

One easy way to tell if it is reloads is to look at the markings on the base of the cases. When you buy reloads you'll get a mixture of Federal, Remington, Winchester, etc. cases. To go to the effort of only using one brand of used cases in order to create fake new ammo would probably end up costing more than any possible savings.

how do you figure? last time i checked, it was the parts that costed money in reloading, not the labor. unless you charge yourself a fee for sorting brass, how does it end up costing you anything but 10 minutes of your time.

infact once you sort the brass and re box them you're actually making money off some sucker, like me, who has got fake factory ammo before. all because i didnt think anyone would take the time to rip me off. well guess what... if it means an extra 15-20 bucks for them, they will sort a few rounds of brass and re package them in a used box with MINIMAL effort.

granted this was at a gunshow, of course.

its really teh same principle why gun ranges sometimes dont allow you to bring your own ammo, even if it appears to be factory sealed. they have no idea where it came from or what you may have done to it

If you are worrying about the color of the primer sealant, how are you missing the ejector and extractor marks on once fired brass?

Remington does sell the Golden Saber bullets in bulk for reloading, which is plus for practice if you reaload.

No this is so they can rip you off with their over priced ammo in addition to range fees.

I havent shot them yet and I guess a full inspection of the ammo is necessary. Now i feel stupid:banghead: I'll get out my caliper, search for the brand on all the brass, and look for extractor marks. again:banghead: lol i cant believe I didnt think of that before I asked, i promise im smarter than that lol. Well one good thing came of this and that is everyone seems to like ammunitiontogo.

+1 for Ammunitiontogo. I just ordered 500 rounds of 9x18 and from them and received the package fairly quickly. As for the red sealant, I've not seen many manufacturers that use that anymore. About the only one I can think of off the top of my head that still uses it is Sellier and Bellot.
