I have been emailing, calling, and sending letters to my elected officials telling them that I don't want any more gun control. I have been curious as to what is the most effective way to communicate with them. I found this video in a google search:

The best way to contact them is through hand written letters. I'm going to hand write some letters to tell them to vote no on gun control.

Keep in mind the politician you're writing to is never going to read it. That's what staff is for.

Staff will tell the wonderous personage how the mail. e-mail. facebook. twitter and everything else is running.

If you get a reply it's probably going to be a canned reply.

Once in a very rare while the addressee will personally respond.

Physical letters go through a screening process, are delayed for days at best, get scanned, and show up in the congressional correspondence drone's EMail box anyway

Phone calls to your Representative or Senators local office is most effective according to those from my state that I have known in the past. Unless the official is in a position of leadership they pay little attention to those who do not live in their district or state. The caveat would be unless you came bearing money or influence.......

Here is what I did...

I went to their site, dug around until I found their schedulers/puplic liason folks and contacted THEM setup phone calls with my Senators. Worked for King and Collins.

Thanks for the tips guys. Maybe the elected officials all have different priorities as to what kind of correspondence gets noticed.

This link gives you the option of contacting your Reps and Senators via email or "printed letter" here:
