How to mark guns for quick ID (non-permanent)?

It would work but I see it as something else to keep up with. If I needed to mark my guns for the reason stated I would use the fingernail polish idea because it's "there" until you decide to remove it.

A wrap of colored vinyl tape around the trigger guard (bottom or front), a different color for each different owner.

I mark my name on anything black with a silver sharpie...mags, mag loaders, stapler, range bag, tools, etc.
