First off I'm not a competition shooter but thought you folks could best help me out with a delimma. I want to know some of the better ways of marking magazines to keep from getting them mixed up with other peoples mags. Some people use paint but I don't want to end up with the same "dot" as someone else and I don't really want to engrave since I'm older and don't want to ruin the value of the mags. Thanks, SI

With nail polish using the little brush apply your initials on the bottom of the mags,it can always be rubbed off when no longer needed.

You should first mark them 1-x so you know what mag didn't do it's job and you can cull it until repaired.

I brand my plastic mags base pad using a bent paperclip and a candle. For metal mags with plastic base pads you can do the same. On my STI/SV mags I have a paister on the bottom with a sharpie mark as to the number, untill everyone does the same its easy to figure out what one is mine.

Temporarily, masking tape with pen/sharpie marking taped to the magazine base works well. I have some mags with the masking tape still intact after 6 months of rough use.

The little name/address labels you stick in the return corner of an envelope work well.

now THERE is an idea! no real way to confuse who the mag belongs to if its got your name AND adress on it.

plus if it ever gets lost, all the finder has to do is slap a stamp on it and throw it in the mailbox! :D

seriously great idea though!

Thanks Guys!

I knew I'd get an idea or two but WOW all these ideas are great!

After losing one (yup, one) mag during a shoot when three people had the same type

pistol I became obsessed with it not happening again!

I was the last to pack up and leave so someone probably picked up an extra

accidentally.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your ideas.

Have a great day!

I put my initials and a number on each base pad. The initials are for everybody else to know who's mag it is and the number is for me to identify a mag i have an issue with. Glock mags are easier because you can write antwhere on the mag with a silver sharpie or paint pen.

This is what I did for normal cap Glock mags. Take white out or silver sharpie
and fill in a round number on the back of the mag. Thus, each has an individual mark so you know if it screws up.

Of course, you can mark initials on the side for ID.

I put my initials and an index number on the basepad with a white paint pen.

This is a really good habit for everyone to get into. Just yesterday, I had to downcheck a couple of magazines that were failing to feed the first couple of rounds. If I hadn't marked them, I wouldn't have known which magazines were okay to take to the match, and which ones to leave home.
