If the mod feels this is in the wrong forum please feel free to move it.

I have a Taurus Tracker 6", Model 627, 7 shooter in .357 magnum.
I bought it new a few years ago and it now has about 2000 rounds, maybe more of factory loads and another 500-600 of my handloads.
I keep it and all of my guns clean but I have never had the cylinder off of the crane. Its easy enuf to remove cyl. and crane from the frame but I don't know how to remove the cylinder from the crane.
Are there special tools involved?
How often should the cyl. be removed off the crane for cleaning? It spins very smooth and free.

It should slide right off.

If you want to disassemble the ejector, center pin, springs from the cylinder you'll need to know which way the fine threads go (probably lefthand, opposite conventional), and devise a way to hold the pin housing to turn it out of the ejector. They are often tight so any "manhandling" will easily mar the finish and/or bend the parts.

Most of them run fine for generations without being taken apart.
