How to remove rear sight from S&W 6906?

I tried taking my sight out but it wouldn't budge. Of course I removed the screw holding it in. I broke a brass punch trying to tap it out. What am I doing wrong? Is the safety supposed to be in a certain position? Does the slide have to be mounted to the gun? Does something need to be depressed before it will come out? Is it just in there and I need to apply more force?

Nevermind, I got it. I just had to use a better brass punch and a little more force. I removed the rear sight on my 3913 to prove that it was possible and then I did it to the 6906. I just wanted to remove the mag safety and now it is done. I went ahead and removed it from both the 3913 and the 6906.

Now, I just need to get some hammer springs and lighten up that DA trigger a little. I might have to polish a few parts as them seem gritty to me.

I got this 6906 for $235 OTD so I don't mind doing a little work to it. It is a keeper same as the 3913.
