I have started on my snipper rifle project (in the rifle forum) and cannot seem to figure out how to remove the rear sight base from my Mosin-Nagant 91/30 rifle. I have the sight itself and the spring removed and have drifter out the two pins that should hold the sight base to the barrel but it won't budge. :banghead: Does anyone have any experience with this process? Please help! Thanx!

I believe some of them might be sweated on with soft solder.
And some of them also have a set-screw under the sight lief.

And all of them are stuck with 100+ years of dried grease!

Get out the propane torch!

remodel, Thanks for the help. Because of the grit, dirt and rust, I didn't see the set screw but it was small and sheared right off. I whacked it with a heavy hammar and a brass drift when the solder started to flow. Pictures in the rifle section under the tilte of snipper rifle. Thanks again!
