How to repair a VZ2008 canted front sight?

I bought one of these a few months ago and long story short; I own a rifle that can't be zeroed at 50 yards because the front sight base is canted so far. The rifle functions and groups really well, it is just 6" left @50 with the sight pushed as far left as it will go.

Being that this is a pinned on front sight, I assume it needs to be removed, filled with weld and redrilled reamed in the proper orientation for the (taper?)pins?

Is this something that is doable? I have access to someone who can heliarc the current holes and I can drill the barrel in a press using the sight base as a guide. The buy a reamer to finish the holes?

Welding is the dangerous part. Very easy to destroy the barrel with heat, warping/distorting the bore and compromising the integrity of the barrel. If I was not absolutely sure of the welder's skills with something so critical I would probably pass on welding and look at slightly relocating the sight front to back to get into some fresh metal. The sight band should cover the old holes/grooves. Even if it didn't cover them, better to have to look at them than than trashing a barrel.

The other question -What else did the Century Arms drunk monkeys screw up with their sledge hammers and cold chisels?

The thing does alright other than the front sight issue. I drove the pins out and rotated the sight base a little. I used a tiny file to open the ways for the pins slightly. While not the best fix, if it hits POA I will have a small heliarc tack weld put on it to hold it in place. It is an inexpensive range toy and Century warranties their work for 30 after the gun is built by them. Not bought by a customer.
