Same buddy that had the old 8,15x46 single shot has another question.

He has a Norinco 90 or 91, thumbhole stock, and ran out of windage on the front sight. Said that the rear sight has no windage.

What would it cost to have the sights fixed? I am assuming that the front sight is held on by brazing/weld but I haven't looked to be sure, for all I know it is just held on through compression or glue? $50 to re-align?

Second, can anyone recommend a good gunsmith to fix the sights and boresight/zero the rifle in the Austin area?

I am not sure, but i think you will find the front site base (FSB) is pinned, with 2 pins going thru the fsb , which pass "U" cuts in the upper barrel.

I believe these pins are tappered, but can't say which side is wider/narrower.

Some pins pop out easy and others won't move no matter what and a press becomes the tool of choice.

One fix is get the pins out one way or another and then weld the fsb straight, which is commonly done.

Another way is weld the pin cuts full, clean the mess and with the fsb straight re drill and re pin.
