How to run a Dillon?

1911--thanks. I'll try clockwise and see which I prefer. For one thing, I see where it will put the case where I can view it better after the powder drop to see the powder (or absence/abundance thereof). As to the auto-eject, Dillon has one for the 450, but it is $54, compared to the one for the 550 which is $30. I rather suspect that I'll pull 'em out by hand. I'm not a big volume pistol shooter. The improvements in time I'm seeing with this old 450 is so much better than the old Rockchucker, I suspect I'll be pretty satisfied.

I found, after crafting one, that I had the primer catcher--it was in some "packaging material" (wadded up newspapers) in the bottom of the box. Hello? Anybody home?

Redneck--Thanks for the tip on the plastic sleeve. As to the knurled thingy on top of the aluminum primer tube, I don't seem to have that. I've just lined the two tubes up by finger. I can see a wreck coming! It sounds like a good piece to acquire.

Someone mentioned I could call Dillon and get all the info. It has been much more interesting and fulfilling, and I sure got good info, this way from you guys. Thanks

Auto eject

Take a look at my photo in post #22. I installed their auto-eject springy for all of $5. I bought the little doohicky from them then pulled the turret head and drilled the holes to poke the spring down into. I think for the $45 they replace the turret or drill yours. The turret is hardened tool steel so a carbide bit is required. Then, the chute and blue catch basin was another $20or so. Well worth it. -Since when you're hovering over the left side of the press, looking into the case after powder drop and turret rotate/index, you don't see that last completed round that's coming up in station 4. Oops. It's easy to forget it. Too late, you've already pushed the bullet down in the case, past where you intended to leave it seated.

The auto-eject was the single best thing I've done to upgrade the 450. Even though it does not auto-index, I can almost reload as fast as someone with a 550. I know speed is not your concern though...
