How to smooth/polish Marlin 1894 action

I just got a new Marlin 1894C, and out of the box it had a not smooth action.
I took out the bolt and lever and cleaned and lubricated it, and after cycling it a few hundred times it is smoother now, but I can feel at least one burr on the bolt slide.

Can anyone tell me a safe way to polish the action and receiver, or should I just keep using the gun till it gets smoother over time?

I just picked up an 1894C yesterday myself (Big5 had them on sale for $335). I've found the same thing -- maybe not a specific burr, but a roughness in the action. This morning I cleaned and lubed it and cycled it a bunch, and its feeling better, but not buttery smooth. I'm guessing that comes with years of use?

I haven't shot mine yet, probably get a chance sometime early next week.

I'll be curious to hear any suggestions folks have for you, and also how you like the gun.

Did you buy yours for any particular purpose?

Easiest method is to dry fire it several hundred times a day for a few weeks. It will wear in to the Marlin glassy action. This will also work the trigger in a bit and give you sighting practice with the rifle. They are very accurate shooters offhand, and dry firing and operating the rifle will make you that much better at handling it in the field.

Shoot it, shoot it some more, and then shoot it some more. Marlins really slick up well with usage.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I have another question, is there anything that makes it easier to load the magazine? I guess that probably smooths up over time as well... but maybe there is some little rubber thing to put on your thumb so it doesn't get sore shoving all those cartridges in? I fired about 100 .38 special and 50 .357 today, and my thumb was pretty sore from trying to stuff the last few rounds in.
