I am wondering if you guys know of any fake TRG's running around and if so then what are the tell-tale signs of identifying them next to the real thing? The reason I ask is because I found one at a local shop, it is a 2007 model in great shape but something seems off about it. The guy also wants $1600 for it which is well below the $2600+ price tag usually associated with it. So, I am a little curious. This is a rifle that I have wanted for some time now and this is a great deal but I am wondering if I should jump on this or not. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I was hoping to get another AR or AK variant but seeing as how the only one of those I have been able to find is a AK in .223 then I am looking at other options. Granted I know that if there is a AWB then bolt action rifles should be safe so I could get one of these at any time theoretically, but I don't know if I will come across another deal like this.

****I may not want one now LOL. I just checked magazines and accessories for this thing and they are high dollar. A freaking magazine is $236 each. The muzzlebrake is $200+. I mean come on that is insane.

Since the TRG's use a reciever unique to the model I would think it'd be hard to fake. I've not heard of any fakes, but that doesn't mean much.

Ok, thanks. On further research it does look like some of the older models that were out so it is probably a 2007. However, it does not have the muzzlebrake, any mags, or any accessory whatsoever. So, I am wondering now if it is worth it. Then again I am not sure you are given any magazines or anything with it new either. I hope this rifle lives up to its name because it definitely isn't a cheap one to operate. I would think I would need somewhere around 5 mags and that would be over $1000 itself. I would also like to have a bipod on there and the one they sell at Beretta is $586. I think I might be able to rig something much cheaper than that.

TRGs own bipod is the best, as it leaves the rifle hanging below the attaching point, so the weight of the rifle will stabilize it. We've tried proprietary and Harris/Parker Hale and first have been the best.

Muzzle brake is not necessary, when it's .308Win cal. Larger ones do benefit from it, though the suppressor might be better choice.

Factory TRG will come with one mag, at least here. But you wouldn't need more than few anyway. When you need more than few loaded mags in a hurry, you'd be better of with at least semi-automatic weapon.

I haven't heard that the TRG's have been faked. I do know that Beretta makes one rifle that very much resembles the TRG, but I'd say it would be marked as Beretta, not Sako. See Post #37

well that's the price to play that game...the TRG is considered the budget alternative to the AI AW after all
