It's been interesting to see the changes in firearms since the advent of the AWB. The "evil" rifles, of course, were able to skirt the law with minor changes. But I think the destruction of the law will open things up quite a bit and we'll see more and more custom parts for AR and AK semi clones. I for one will be putting some mods on my roommate's SAR-1 without fear of violating federal law.
The impact of the high-cap ban has been far, far more significant. Esp. on handguns. Prior to '94, the high-cap wondernines were the cutting edge, and seemed to be the main focus of most development. For the past ten years, all new models of handguns have been capped at ten. Therefore the emphasis has shifted from quantity to power, and there's been a new focus on big boomers, from the Deagles to the Super Redhawks --culminating in the .500 S&W.
Are we now going to see a shift back to capacity, perhaps with new centerfire rounds mirroring the rimfire shift to super high-velocity sub .22 caliber?
