How would you spend $500 on a handgun

Why? Because a 4" S&W 686 in excellent condition is on my "guns to get" list This one looks good but I'd rather buy one in person.

S&W 686+, 6" barrel, no lock. Why? Because I need a revolver, and because .357 mags stomp some major butt. Seven of them is even better. And a six inch barrel, because 4 is too few, and 8 looks a bit silly on an L frame(Hmm, could I get a 629 for $500? That'd be a tough choice.)

Maybe look into a BHP or one of these CZ jobbies everyone's talking about. Don't know if they come in under $500, though. Cheap(er) centerfire ammo; perchance to dream. . .

Locally I can get the CZ75 Compact for $369 and the P-01 for $475. That is about the range. Maybe around $515 for the SP-01 Tactical.

The two guns on my "to buy in '08" list both fit your criteria (well maybe not the cheap ammo).

Last time I spend that much money it was on a Ruger Vaquero. The time before that it was a Ruger SP101. I'm very happy with both.
