I plan on picking up a Howa 1500 custom varmint from CDNN after Xmas. I have a Nitrex 2-15x50mm scope waiting for it. I would like to use a DNZ one piece mount on it. My question is what height, medium or high? Also is their a better option than the DNZ mount?

High would be a safe bet, I am using a medium set of Warne rings, a 44mm lense scope, and have a little clearence, It's a canted 20MOA base though.
Howa's are very good rifles, mine has shot .5-.75" groups when I'm doing my best
Yours should be even better, the heavy barreled Howa's are tackdrivers
I'm thinking of starting up a "Post christmas match" so we can all play with our new toys. :D
here's a pic of my Howa 1500 .308 sporter with medium rings, a 44mm scope, and the factory base.

JD, I will be picking up a high DNZ mount. My howa should ship right after Xmas and I will hopefully me sighting it in before New Years. I have heard nothing but good things about the howa heavy barrels over at snipers hide. The FFL that does my transfer for me is building a 500 yards range on his property I cant wait to try this rifle at that distance:)

I have the DNZ mount on my Howa 1500 and I love the mounts. I love the rifle too. I have shot .5 MOA groups with it after breaking in the barrel.

I shot a few nice "Sub-Inch" groups today at 100 yards, said Pshh. "This rifle has some reach"
and closed the firing line, since I was the only shooter, and shot a nice 300 yard group with a 150 grain Hornady softpoint over 46.5 grains of Varget, Hornady match brass, I didn't load them, but the rangemaster who loads came up with the load for me.
I wish I would have waited for the heavy barrel, But the gun shoots too good to complain, and No fouling today, after about 20 rounds fired.
So maybe I wont have to lapp it.
