I have been considering getting one in 270win after handling one. It definitely feels much lighter than the rest of Howa's lineup and the stock feels solid. Dont know much about Stocky's stocks though. Doesn't seem like there is much info out there on these rifles other than an Outdoorlife review that just came out. Looks to be around 6.2lbs in 6.5cm. Was considering a Tikka Roughtech or Superlight before these and now dont know which way to go. LGS has the Howa in 270 in the black stock.

I would suggest buying the rifle based on feal and features. The over all quality is pretty similar from my experience with other models in the same lines.

The major differences imo are the more traditional SAKO type receiver with its large open port and hinged bottom metal.
Compared to the Tikkas tubular recever, smaller port and detachable magazine.

Speaking of magazines. If you WANT a DM from the factory, the Tikka mag system is better imo, the howas dm system works, but its not as nice.
You can get AI conversions for the howa aftermarket, but it adds cost....and again with the long action im only aware of one flush(ish) fit AI option.

Stocks i cant offer an opinion, i havent used either the roughtech or the stockys carbon yet.

Personally, i prefer the Howas action and basic function, but again thats simply personal preference as opposed to a hard reason(s)

For the same money or close I'd go with the Tikka. I have a Howa 30-06 and I love the action and the overmoulded Hogue stock it came in, but its groups start opening up after 3 or four shots.

I dont have any first hand experience with either rifle so I was looking for opinions. They both felt good and I think the stock on the Howa is a little nicer but I don't know much about Stocky's carbon fiber stocks. Tikka Roughtech has a bigger barrel profile and is fluted. Plus has more aftermarket support if I decided to change the stock out in the future.
