Howa Combo Packages

i have a howa 1500 in 308 and i love it. i bought it as a combo with the scope and rail and wish i hadn't. the scope and rail are trash and the hogue stock has a lot of flex. if i had it to do over again i would get a barreled action, boyds stock, and a decent scope.

CDNN has the Howa 1500 in a non-Hogue synthetic camo stock in 30-06 and 270 for $340

There are different Hogue stocks out there. Some are aluminum pillar bedded - these are viewed by some as "flexible". I doubt it would effect Minute of Deer performance. Some are fitted with an aluminum chassis. These are not flexy. I don't know how you tell which are which from the outside.

James Wayne is selling horrible sand colored Hogue stocked 1500s in a range of calibers. 30-06 is $325.

The new Weatherby Vanguard II is a tweaked Howa 1500 in a proprietary stock. They are guaranteed sub MOA out of the box. The best deal I have found on them is Jet Guns, 30-06 for $474.

I don't know anything about the Nikko Stirling scopes. But seeing as you can get a Nikon Prostaff for $80, both the CDNN and James Wayne (+ Krylon) deals seem quite good.

jimmyray- bought a Nikon Prostaff 39x40 BDC reticle in clamshell packaging new on ebay in June for $83 - just like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-Prost...111?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2322e767df .

Natchez had them for @ $120 at the same time but I do see that now on ebay and at Natchez your Wallyworld price point is spot on. I stand corrected.

But wait : here's a $30 mail in rebate code for Nikon BDC at Mack's Prairie Wings

I have had a Howa 1500 in 6.5 x 55 for about 3 years now. Not one complaint here! Great new production rifle for those looking to picking up a modern Swede.

Bought the Howa/Hogue/Nikko combo last summer in 300 Win Mag. Stock really takes the sting out of the Win Mag. Scope is ok, but groups are right at at or maybe a little over 1MOA. My other guns shoot < 1MOA, but they all wear Leupolds. I'm thinking the scope might be getting a little rattled by the .300. My son bought a .270 Vanguard (same gun as Howa 1500) at same time, and it groups one ragged hole at 100 yd with Leupold vx3 glass 3-9x40.
