I know the ebay thing has been done to death lately, but I got a humorous response from them I thought I would share.

I'm waiting on payment for my last auction before I cancell, so just for fun I linked up a bunch of berdan primed .308 brass on machine gun links, listed it as a dummy machine gun belt. I made it clear that it was empty, non-reloadable brass, and the belt was useless for anything but display. They kicked it off, I complained just to see what they had to say:

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to your removed dummy ammunition
listing.

We do allow rubber, plastic or wooden bullets/dummy ammunition that does
not resemble actual ammunition. However, dummy ammunition that still
resembles actual ammunition is *not* allowed.

Unfortunately, your listing had to be removed because the dummy
ammunition is not made of a permitted material and the item resembles
actual ammunition. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you don't
relist this item.

I completely understand that it was not your intent to violate policy.
I'd like to assure you that your account is still in good standing with
eBay. You can be assured that your account status will not be harmed
provided future listings do not violate this rule.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation, and wish you luck with
your future eBay transactions.

Sincerely,
Cherie

Here is an earlier message I received that spells out their new policy. I actually wrote to ask if reloading equipment was permitted, as "bullet tips" and brass are useless with reloading tools. Their response:

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to our Firearms policy.

I completely understand that our policy changes may affect you
tremendously. And we have no doubt that you conducted your business with
utmost integrity, however, our Firearms policy must be changed.

The following are still permitted to be sold on our site:

-Trigger guards
-Stocks
-Butt plates
-Pistol grips
-Holsters
-Storage cases
-Cleaning supplies
-Racks
-Slings
-Dies
-Molds
-Scopes
-Flash suppressors
-Muzzle brakes
-Dummy ammunition
-Rubber bullets
-Reloading equipment

The following are prohibited:

-Receiver
-Frame
-Barrel
-Slide
-Cylinder
-Magazine
-Firing pin
-Choke tube
-Trigger assembly
-Bullets
-Brass casings
-Shells
-Hulls
-Primer
-Gunpowder

I appreciate the fact that you may disagree with our position on this
issue. If you would like to see a change in one of our policies or
procedures, I encourage you take a moment to submit your concerns in
this regard through our community feedback form, which can be accessed
by navigating your browser to the following URL:

It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing eBay.

Again, I realize that this has been hashed over plenty, I just thought it was kind of funny, the logic they use. Flash suppressors are OK, but choke tubes are not?!?
I think I may access their "community feedback forum" to suggest they remove dangerous ammunition reloading tools as well, for the safety of the ebay community.

By the way; yes, I know they can do what they want to with their site, I don't have to do business with them, they suck anyhow, etc.. That is why I am parting company with them, thought I'd have a little fun with customer service first just to see what they had to say.

I can't believe they allow pistol grips. Those enable people to shoot from the hip quickly and dangerously. ;)

I find it rather ironic that Ebay is refusing to list some items that may have been used by the shooter at V.T. when the real problem rests in the way he may have gotten them: Via the internet, yet I don't see Ebay curtailing the use of their websites and the internet to generate money inspite of their feel good policy.
PS: Can not post an email to them without being a member, I canceled my membership weeks ago. When I cancelled Ebay customer service generated email said they would be in contact with me within a few days to find out why I cancelled. Haven't heard from them since and really don't care too.

I'm appalled and horrified ebay still sells clothing after the murderer at VT wore clothing on his killing spree. CHILDREN can order clothing from that enabler of death and then go commit unspeakable acts such as hopscotch, tennis, or mass murder!

Since you're going to cancel anyway, it might be fun to see how many times you can list the dummy "belt o' mechanized death" before they cancel your account.

I'd like to assure you that your account is still in good standing with
eBay. You can be assured that your account status will not be harmed
provided future listings do not violate this rule.

Yes Master *bows humbly*

Thank you master, you are generous *Bows again*
