I know the ebay thing has been done to death lately, but I got a humorous response from them I thought I would share.
I'm waiting on payment for my last auction before I cancell, so just for fun I linked up a bunch of berdan primed .308 brass on machine gun links, listed it as a dummy machine gun belt. I made it clear that it was empty, non-reloadable brass, and the belt was useless for anything but display. They kicked it off, I complained just to see what they had to say:
Here is an earlier message I received that spells out their new policy. I actually wrote to ask if reloading equipment was permitted, as "bullet tips" and brass are useless with reloading tools. Their response:
Again, I realize that this has been hashed over plenty, I just thought it was kind of funny, the logic they use. Flash suppressors are OK, but choke tubes are not?!?
I think I may access their "community feedback forum" to suggest they remove dangerous ammunition reloading tools as well, for the safety of the ebay community.
By the way; yes, I know they can do what they want to with their site, I don't have to do business with them, they suck anyhow, etc.. That is why I am parting company with them, thought I'd have a little fun with customer service first just to see what they had to say.

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to your removed dummy ammunition
listing.
We do allow rubber, plastic or wooden bullets/dummy ammunition that does
not resemble actual ammunition. However, dummy ammunition that still
resembles actual ammunition is *not* allowed.
Unfortunately, your listing had to be removed because the dummy
ammunition is not made of a permitted material and the item resembles
actual ammunition. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you don't
relist this item.
I completely understand that it was not your intent to violate policy.
I'd like to assure you that your account is still in good standing with
eBay. You can be assured that your account status will not be harmed
provided future listings do not violate this rule.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation, and wish you luck with
your future eBay transactions.
Sincerely,
Cherie
