Hungarian M44: accuracy affected by bayonet?

With mine the best accuracy comes from trying different ammo and finding what it likes. I only shoot with the bayonet extended when Zombies attack.

With or without the bayonets extended, my pair of MN 44s couldn't group better than about 6-8" at 50 yards. Old Bulgarian ammo can't be That bad-----must have been primarily the muzzle wear (leades also?)..

Such a shame, as I find them some of the coolest-looking bolt-actions, and rugged as a Russian tank.
 
Yes, bayonets can affect point of impact in several different ways. Surprisingly a little weight can be an issue, but also it will change barrel harmonics and throw bullets all over the place. I have always wondered why the manufacturer or military personnel didn't figure that out years ago. And it isn't just you gun either, I noticed the same issue with the M-1 garand.!
They did.

The 300 yard rapid qualification string with the M1903 and M1 was supposed to be done with a fixed bayonet.

And that was your battlesight zero.
