LA....Lower Alabama, I think. The tinfoil confuses
Does anyone own a Huntertown Arms 22 suppressor? What is your opinion of them? Do they seem to hold up well? Would you buy another?

I saw one today at a LGS and they are priced right, less than the NFA fee. Are they worth it? I figure that if you pay the fee you would want a quality product.

I've got the .22 Guardian. The earliest iteration, as I think they have upgraded the base model now. I have absolutely no complaints. It is quiet, user serviceable, and inexpensive. There is much to be said for "buying quality" since you have to pay the $200 tax stamp regardless; but as far as .22 suppressors go, unless you need a full auto rated can I'm not sure more money is going to get you much. You MIGHT consider stepping up to the Kestral 5.56mm in case you wish to employ it on an AR sometime in the future.

In short, I think the Guardian is good to go.

We've transferred/sold a few and the customers seem happy with them.

If you get one make sure you're buying from someone who has them in stock and isn't ordering one to drop-ship to your transfer dealer, as Huntertown is backordered by a few months. We ordered one six months ago, don't have it yet, gave up and found one at another FFL/SOT who had it in stock. I didn't cancel the original order, if it ever shows up I can flip it easily.

My first can is/was a Guardian 22. Love it. Easy to disassemble and clean. Lifetime warranty. Plenty quiet...what's not to like? AND, it is rated for f.a.

Have a Guardian 9 tax stamp on the way...probably will wait another year? Will be using it on a G17 and .300 Blackout rifle.

Huntertown Arms Guardian 22

They are a good value in a take-apart K-baffle 22 can, well made. Compared to a sealed Gemtech Outback II the OBII is smaller, lighter, and at the shooter's ear has a lower tone making it sound more muffled. That's what $150 more gets you. 10 yards away they both sound about the same. After 2-300 rounds you'll want to clean a take apart 22 can while it is relatively easy to get apart. Being all aluminum you won't get all the lead off the baffles easily. Pre-treating with Brownells teflon mold release helps a little.

It's a gateway can for sure. Within months I've spent more on threaded barrels & hosts then the can and stamp cost. Too bad about the 22 ammo supply though. I can reload 9mm subsonics cheaper than i can routinely get 22LR.

Definitely buy from a stocking dealer. And for any of HA's other cans mounts are scarce and HA's growth and sales model makes for poor availability. I've had mounts for a Guardian 9 on order and now backorder with my dealer for over a year. The G9 is heavier than they spec on line and won't cycle an M9 without a booster. Works well on a G27 with a LW 9mm barrel. I consider it just barely hearing safe with 9mm subs but haven't compared it to other 9mm cans. A suppressed 22 is by far the most suppressor fun for the money.

I wouldn't buy anybody's non-consumer-serviceable can for .22 suppression. Stainless baffles can be had for the Guardian 22. Any .22 can is going to get leaded up.

I fondled a bunch of HTA stuff at a local shop. Everything appeared really well made. Given the price point, I was really impressed. I ended up buying/submitting for a Guarding XL with stainless baffles.

I just got my guardian 9 yesterday. Only used it with .22 so far, it's def hearing safe, but I've got nothing to compare to :)
