I am in the market for a suppressor and was looking at AAC. However my local dealer showed me a Kestrel and would give me a good deal on it. I was looking for one that i could use on DPMS 5.56 and AR-57 5.7 rifle. However i noticed since you can this can apart the Huntertown arms web site says you can use it with .22LR. I think this would be a great a can i could use on different guns and calibers.

Has anyone got this can and how is it performance with the 5.56 and .22LR?

i wish someone could tell you, because i am about to buy one myself. well, not the EXACT can you are. the can i'm buying, i don't think they've listed it on their site yet. it wasn't up there last time i checked, but they had already finished all the "prep work" (R&D, etc) and were ordering material to put it in production. it's called the Kestrel 9 (not their Gaurdian 9).

inexpensive cans scare me. i'm from the "buy once cry once" skule of thought. however, i've talked with Steve (over the phone) several times and the guy just really seems to know his stuff. i have faith in HTA :) not enough faith to buy more than one of their cans without hearing one first, mind you. i'm buying my 9mm can from them and THEN if i like it, i'll be buying atleast one (probably two) more cans from them. their prices are cheap enough where you can outfit a couple of yer guns :D

edit to add - if by some crazy stroke of luck, i end up receivin mine before you've made your decision, i'll definitely let you know my opinion of it. all i have to wait on is the form 3 because i bet my SOT will grant me a conjugal visit, he's kule like that :)

Large volume cans sound good on a 22 in my opinion

Huntertown makes a good product I like the easily changed baffles as well

I just got mine this wekeend and I'm impressed. Very easy to clean and very quiet w/ subsonic rounds. If you shoot CCI quiet in a bolt rifle, it's quieter than my RWS air rifle!

I'm about to 'pull the trigger' on a 556 kestrel for my 556 SBR Micro Galil. Then the waiting game begins again.... :( this will be my third stamp, third go through purgatory
