Living in South Florida and looking for a hunting lease somewhere south of a line from Orlando to Tampa. Max 2 -3 hrs drive from West Palm Beach.Four hunters. Deer, hogs and turkey. Experienced, ethical, fair chase hunters. Water and electric on site if possible.

Up in the northern part of the state, most hunters seem to either join a club or finagle a lease from one of the timber companies. You might ask at some of the local gun clubs and see if you get a lead.

Good luck!

Check around a large book store, a seed'n'feed store, some mom'n'pop gas stations in more rural areas and maybe a gunshop: "Woods and Waters" magazine. Multitudes of ads for hunt clubs and leases as well as the articles and other ads.

Check with Deseret Citrus and Cattle Co. off of US192 west of Melbourne. I think they're on Deer Park Rd. Lots of piggies, turkey and deer. I used to do some business with the farm manager and asked about hunting. They only allowed lease hunting at that time, and it wasn't cheap. But they do have a considerable piece of land, and its a nice area. If you make a deal with them, can I go on a pig hunt as a guest?

wow, those prices are steep!
There are public lands available in Florida, some sort of application process. Are they worth trying?

Finewine-the link below is ever slightly north of your range, but this WMA is part of the massive Green Swamp, which extends into the Lakeland, Polk City and Auburndale areas which are well within your travel limits.

Yes this is one of the larger deer to come out of the Gr.Swamp (195 lbs) but his dad took a 176 pound 6 point minutes later, so there are respectable deer here. Be warned however, this is no place to wade into without an excellent bug suit and snake boots.

Applications to hunt the first 9 days prior tothe general hunting season have to be turned in by June 30 so you only have a few days left if you want to go this way.

That's a tough area to find for a decent price. I've been looking for leases for 5 years and could never find anything under $4,000 that was within 3 hours of Naples, where I live. Seems like you have many more options if you are willing to drive 4 or 5 hours from where you and I are in the southern (either coast) part of the State. But then you run into what happened to me a few years ago. I got into a lease near Jasper, 5 hours from me. I went once to set up a stand and once to hunt for a weekend and take my stand down...that's it. But, that was also the first year I started a new buisiness. I'd still like to find something 2-3 hours away. Last year I hunted in Big Cypress for my first time. No luck. But, will try again because it's only 45 minutes from my house.

Good Luck!! If you find something, please let me know. Thanks.

Thanks

Thanks to all. Still looking for a lease nearer that will let me hunt for a day without an overnight stay. Let me know if anything comes up and thansk again for the input.

Finewine, there is a campground north of Sebring, Avon that has thousand of acres for camp site owners that want to hunt. They go by the regular hunting seaon dates. You might be better off to buy in there rather then pay for a lease every year. I can't remember the name of it at the moment, but if you're interested PM me I'll find out what it is.
