Hunting turkeys with a .223 rifle.

Iirc David Petal used a 7mm08 with reduced loads and heavy bullets to hunt turkey. Here in NY it's shotgun only and 20 gauge minimum.

I appreciate all the quick attention I received from my question. The best I can tell, it is legal to shoot turkeys with a rifle in Texas, but will check with a game warden to be sure.

Rifles are not legal for spring turkeys in Texas. No need to ask a game warden. It clearly says so in the regs. https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/hunting/general-regulations/means-and-methods

Which means you may want to consider deleting at least some of this thread, unless you're only hunting them in the fall.

Those shotgun only rules are for Eastern Turkeys and not for Rio Grandes as I understand.
