I have the 1895CB like yours. I added the brass Skinner peep sight. Mt 67 year old eyes focus through it quite easily. I can shoot 100 yard without a scope nicely. Besides, the Brass Skinner is just plain sexy!

I like Brazilian women,
I like Brazilian food.
I liked the country when I spent three months there in 1979.
I’ve never been able to warm up to Brazilian made firearms though I don’t have anything against other people owning them.

I have an ACOG on my 1895 GBL. Makes for fast shooting in woods. Not even close to traditional but it works a hundred times better than irons or a peep and there is no worry about an idiot mark on my eye. Don't know why not many others don't employ this combo in some way. Had a reflex sight on it before and that worked good too.

I was looking for one for a while. But instead I got a marlin 1895 M chambered in .450 marlin. A friend of mine had 2 for sale so I figured why not. Each round sounds like thunder rolling through the trees! I just wish .450 was as available as .45-70. And it’s not like you find .450 brass just laying around anywhere.

OP, if you reload, you can build some real easy shooting loads for having fun. No scope bite! Look up on Hodgdons site some 45-70 loads with TrailBoss. Unlike most factory loads, you can shoot these all day long. I just went through 25 rounds of 300 gr. RNFP loads with 14.1gr. of TrailBoss this past Sunday and they're a pleasure to shoot at 50 yds and 100 yds. Shot some steel also (21 MOA of elevation on my scope! Thing drops like a rock at distance) at 220 yds, and unlike my Rem 700 in .223, my 1895 makes a very satisfying "clang"!!! Enjoy!

p.s. I have an 1895 with the 22" barrel bought 2 or 3 years ago and have a Vortex 2-8x32 Diamonback HP scope on it. Just a range toy. Super fun!
