I’ve finally succumbed to buying a modern hunting rife.

My first was a .45 percussion I built from a kit, I gave it to my uncle. Then I got a Winchester 94 but it got stolen, I built a T/C left hand .54 Renegade that is at the gunsmiths getting fitted for new glasses, it’s getting old like me. I got a Winchester Model 66 Yellowboy made by Uberti in 44/40, I reload this with FFFg :)
.
I spent close to two weeks trying to talk myself out of it and looking for bad press and negative opinions but it just served to convince me that I was getting a fair deal from my gunsmith and his recommendation of this rifle was right on.

So I’m laying down the cash for a Blaser Professional R93 with the left handed bolt in .270 win. We’re just waiting for the left hand bolt to come in. I chose this rifle for its bolt technology and quality but really because when I picked it up its balance, feel and ergonomics made it feel like it was an extension of me, I’ve had that experience with guitars but never with a rifle before. I figure the money will soon be gone anyhow but this rifle will last generations.

Nice choice, give us the range report when you recieve the gun and make it out to the range.

I always thought Blasers were beautiful rifles and that straight bolt is so cool.
Good choice for sure! Def. give us a range report. I'd love to hear about it.

I will be glad to report back to you, but the local range is closed for three months :( , my gunsmith highly recommends a good scope for this rifle, I told him it is my intention but the gun bank is awfully close to empty after this purchase, he told me no problem, that many of his customers are always upgrading their glass, he’ll keep his eyes open and get me a Leupold, Zeiss or other high end scope that they sell for pennies on the dollar, then we will be able to determine the best blazer scope mount to order, not cheap either but defiantly top quality stuff.

I took to this old school gunsmith right away, we have craftsmanship in common and recognized it in each other.
