So I went to the city for a week last week and I didn’t want to not have a rifle with me, but I didn’t want my good ones stolen. So I grabbed my old cetme out of the safe and put it and 3 loaded mags in the rack figuring it’s alot less tempting than anything I normally carry. (Mind you I’d be crippled If i actually needed it for SHTF vs what I normally carry for varmints)
It’s a solid rifle, bought it for $150 with a case stuck in the chamber in maybe 2011. (You can’t shoot some types of commercial 308 brass ammo in the fluted chamber, not an issue for a LC fan like me.) The muzzle brake was horribly loud and heavy so I sawed it down to 16.5” barrel. (Left enough a smith could fix it if needed) crowned it myself with emery cloth and a carriage head bolt with grinding compound. Did what I can for the trigger. It’s smooth, but kinda feels like a looong 3-5# 2stage now.
Welded some mounts that a picatinny rail bolts to onto the top of the receiver where I have an old NC star 4x32 scope. Spray painted where I damaged the paint with black just to prevent rust.
Anyways. She is reliable. Shoots 3 moa 10 shot groups with sub moa capable Handloads.
Getting to my point, I’ve carried it all week and think I’d like to do a paint job on the whole thing. It’s kinda a corny gun anyway so I’m thinking base coat it white and use red and blue paint over leaves and stuff to do kinda a patriotic camo? Anyone seen something like that? I’ve been googling for pics and not finding much. I know it’s not an American gun, but bubbaing a Milsurp type gun is an American redneck right of passage.
