Well my wife has only had a chance to go to the range twice ever. Sad I know but hey everyone has to start somewhere right! The first time we went she shot my xd and did ok but there were some issues that we needed to work out like trigger pull, flinching, anticipating the recoil, droping the muzzle before the rd would go off! etc, the basic problems for a new shooter. And i think we did darn well working through those issues, because the picture shows what she was capable of after only firing a handgun on two occasions!
both targets were shot at the 7yd line, standing in a weaver stance. the target on the left was shot with my kahr k40 pictured with the targets. 5Rds 5 hits 4 in the box. the yellow box is 3". The other target was shot using a Kahr k9 elite that belongs to my dad. She fired 6rds all in the yellow. It isn't match grade but you must know that this is a long way from before and i am just happy as can be!

Tell your wife great job! Note: Women generally shoot better than men due to fine motor control.

Keep her shooting...

And that K-40 is a great one for her. So easy to shoot well. My wife ,(a new shooter) likes my P-40, and so do I. But I know that "K" is a much softer shooter.

Braggin' 'bout My Better Half

Although my wife was at one time a serious shooter (competitive practical pistol matches in the early days of IPSC, 1978 A-Ticket graduate of GunSite under Cooper) she isn't into guns anymore. Since we moved to a new city she has been busy getting settled in a new job and a new home. With only two times at the range in those two years, she went to qualify for her CCW permit renewal last Saturday.

Course of fire was 20 rounds at 3, 5, 7 & 10 yards. She shot her Kimber Stainless Covert with no practice or warm-up and got 100% of the possible. To say I am proud of her would be an understatement.

Quality training lasts!

Dave
