Is your wife s/o into concealed carry, shooting?

Well I had my CPL for about a year before my wife showed interest in carrying, once she got her permit I'd say she carries daily and shoots about 4 or so times a year now. We've had our Cpl's for 13-14 years and we used to shoot a lot together(before kids) going out to local indoor ranges, now we shoot mostly in the woods near our family Cabin up in the boonies. She started out with a Kel-Tec .32 and shot it pretty well but the little pistol always gave her a malfunction or two almost every time she shot it, I think grip strength was a factor because it behaved for me. Then she got a LCP and it functioned fine but the little thing was too rowdy for her and accuracy suffered, as well as shot to shot times, then she bought a Glock43 but found it a little large to conceal daily as well as a few stovepipe and other malfunctions.. so it went... just this year she bought a 642 Performance Center J frame at my prodding, and she loves it! Shoots it accurately and is coming along speed wise..she still has the LCP but it sits in the safe. I feel like a lucky guy to have a wife that will go shoot by herself and enjoy it.

I wouldn't say she is "into it"
She doesn't conceal carry, but does keep a 4 inch .38 Spcl on her side of the bed.
She also owns a Ruger M77 .243 Win. She even killed a deer with it, but doesn't want to do it again. Softie.
She'll still eat them when I bring em' home though.

She humors me every now and again and goes shooting with me, and seems to enjoy it, but she won't be the one to come up with the idea of going.
With the social distancing going on I've been spending more time in the woods and she and my daughter went with me a couple of weeks ago. We picked up a few pounds of tannerite and had a great time.

And here's the daugher shooting my Ruger Blackhawk in .357 mag.

I'm going to have to say no. My wife has shot with me maybe 5 times in the 13 years we've been together. She likes guns and likes shooting but doesn't like me buying guns (she's frugal) , she tolerates it. I've tried repeatedly to get her to run through the required CCW class, won't do it. She does have a FOID card (required in IL) but doesn't technically own any guns besides half of mine I suppose.
I worry about her not being armed but she just doesn't take it seriously. Oh well , I'll keep trying.

Mrs. Fl-NC carries a handgun daily, and is prepared to use any of the handguns in the house that are kept ready for use. I take her out a few times a year to practice, and she occasionally sits in the deer blind with me, but she hasn't gotten a shot yet. She will only hunt in the afternoon- she's not really into cold early mornings.

"cold mornings" Location: Florida

My wife hunted too, killed a dozen deer, most with a bow.
She wasn't much on mornings either, but IME when the temperature is much above 70 a ground blind is like a little sauna.
We sold all our hunting stuff (bows, crossbows, muzzleloaders) about a year ago; she was done with it and I was too. Our boys were taken hunting and got two deer each, but they just were not into it. Years ago I looked forward to the opening of bow season like it was Christmas, over time my enthusiasm faded.

I know. I will say that relative to the rest of the state, we are in the coldest part (NW Fl). I think the earliness bothers her more than the "coldness".

My last girlfriend wanted to carry. I bought her a gun, I took her shooting many times and taught her to shoot.

Note that I said she wanted to carry, not that she did. When she was at work (self employed) she'd leave it in her car...……….. I asked her how she would get to it if someone came through the one entrance to her office with intent to do harm.

She never took it seriously.

My wife will shoot some, prefers wheel guns and especially her Vaquero with weak .38 loads for fun. I've been trying to get her more comfortable with my autos, but it's a work in progress.

She hunts with her dad some, but CCW is a no go in her mind. Doesn't care that I carry though.

My lady can shoot pretty well, and does practice occasionally, but she doesn’t particularly enjoy it. She groans when I make her practice, and threatens to kill me if “you put one more damn dud in there” (pop quiz failure drill).
With her DAO sp101, she’s just kinda naturally good at it. I don’t want to admit it, but with a revolver at least, she is better than me without even really trying.
She wanted a Sig 238 because it was pretty, so I got it for her. But she refused to deal with the safety, and would not carry it cocked and locked, so I commandeered it.
Shooting at reactive targets and/or plates made her enjoy it more... same for my kiddo

It’s far more common for me to go into town without my carry pistol than my wife. I carry most days, and she carries two pistols about as much as I carry one, an LCP on her person, and a P320 in her purse. I can’t recall the last time she didn’t carry except where prohibited by law, and often, even there.

ETA: my mother, sister, and mother-in-law also carry daily. My living grandmother carries most days. My sister-in-law carries I would gauge around half of days around town. All of the above have a firearm at the ready in their homes. All are married, save my MIL, and all carry more frequently than their husbands.

Yep. She gets on me if I haven't taken her to the range to "re-qual" for a couple months. Very good rifle shot, likes shooting pistol, has her own SIG P-228 W. German, a P-225, a S&W M&P-C, a SIG P-238 and has had her CPL (carries regularly) since the early '90s.

Yes, my wife is “into” concealed carry, and shooting. She has a Texas License To Carry.

My user name, which I use on several forums, has been “outed” to a degree that makes it unwise for me to provide further details.

My mrs has her own pistol. She keeps it in the console of her f150. She practices occasionally. Much to my surprise, she took it with her on a recent trip to the city. I feel better when she has it on her, and she knows that.
She has an LCP with an extended magazine and a slim kydex holster.

Mrs. Tallball grew up in Kentucky and is accepting of firearms, but isn't a fan. She has no wish to practice or carry, but she can shoot a revolver okay. On the VERY rare occasions I am out of town, I leave a loaded 32 H&R magnum for her. It probably doesn't matter all that much. Her job is a secure location and she keeps two large dangerous dogs in the house with her all of the time.

She doesn't care how many firearms I have, and feels secure that I have one or more available for myself at home, and always accompany her armed if she goes anywhere other than maybe her parents' house or the local grocery store. She is 6'4" and strong, so she doesn't look like a likely victim.

Anybody else have a spouse or s/o that is into concealed carry, shooting?

Not no but hell no. Wants absolutely nothing. NOTHING. To do with any gun. Doesn't care that I own one. Thinks I spend wayyyyyy too much money on shooting.

And on that note...with only very few exceptions, I've never met a woman who did. I worked a few years at a range. Shot competitively. Still spend a lot of time at the range. I almost never see a woman there who wasn't dragged there by her husband/boyfriend/dad. And they usually don't look like they're enjoying it.

I keep reading that women are the fastest growing segment of the shooting sports. I call "fake news" on that one.

Mine conceal carries, and is also a certified NRA Instructor. She has a number of pistols, and carries her Sig 938. Years ago I had bought a Kimber Raptor (5" barrel). Decided to add a Raptor Ultra (3" barrel). Finally to complete the set, bought a Raptor Pro (4" barrel). Brought it home, took it out of the box. She picked it up, looked me in the eye and said, "This one's mine!"

Of course. I've mentioned several times on THR that my wife is as into guns, shooting, concealed carry and hunting as I am. And she has as many guns as I do, maybe more. Our oldest daughter is into all of those things too. And like our oldest daughter who took the Idaho Enhanced Concealed Carry Class with her fiancé last summer, my wife took it with me. I don't know what things are like elsewhere, but here I noticed that there were just as many women in that class as there were men.
I grew up hunting with both Dad and Mom, and with my little sister too once she got old enough. However, my wife was born and raised in Southern California, and as much as she wanted to get into guns and shooting, her mom wouldn't allow it. Besides that, her dad, who wasn't actually against gun ownership, preferred keeping the peace with his wife and didn't push the issue. He didn't even stand up when my wife (his daughter) wanted to join the rifle team at school - they actually had those things in Southern California high schools back then.
So when my wife married me (49 years ago come June) she took to guns and shooting like a duck to water. By the '80s, she was one of the top IHMSA competitors in the state, and she'd killed as many deer, elk, ducks, geese and pheasants as I had. She's killed as many as most of the men I know, or knew back then too.
Then, by the '90s, with our kids grown and off on their own, my wife went back to work outside the home. Because we live a ways out, and my wife sometimes worked late, she got herself a little 38 snubby to carry back and forth to work. Sometime in the late '90s, she got a concealed carry license (several years before I got one myself) and started carrying all the time.
As far as whether or not there's some kind of trend nowadays towards more women owning guns goes, like I said - I wouldn't know about anywhere else. I do know this: in the last couple of years, at least 4 women have approached my wife asking for advice about carry guns. In fact, just before this virus thing hit, a rancher friend of ours asked me to bring my wife and a couple of guns over to his and his wife's place because his wife wanted to start carrying. So we did, and we all went out behind the house and shot handguns for a couple of hours before going inside for coffee and conversation about carrying. BTW, over coffee, we found out the ranchers wife was into deer and elk hunting just like her husband.:)
However, I have to admit that our youngest daughter, who like her older sister grew up around guns and hunting, is far too tender hearted to kill an animal, and she probably doesn't even own a gun. So I don't know if you'd call it ironic or what that she's a wheel with one of the nation's largest hunting and conservation organizations.o_O

My girlfriend is from Ontario and didn't grow up around guns. She's never fired one. She's quite outdoorsy and did a little crossbow hunting as a teenager.

She's known that I'm into guns from the start and it's never really be an issue. When she first came down to visit, she wanted to see the collection in my gun safe and next time she's down she'd like to go to the range with me just to have the life experience.

Overall she's not anti-gun, nor is she a fan of them in general. I don't see it becoming a hobby of hers (or her getting a WCL) once she does move down here permanently.

Mine is only interested enough to occasionally accept an invitation to shoot with me. No interest in carrying and has to be refreshed every outing on most everything. She remembers to treat every gun as if it's loaded, keeps the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, and finger outside the trigger guard until ready to fire. Other than that, she doesn't retain much and doesn't care to. Her sister aggravates the crap out of me wanting to go shooting all the time, but doesn't trust her S/O to take her.

I wouldn't say she's 'into it' but when she said she wanted to do a match with me, I said "Sure! which one?"
Her: "How about that one in Utah?"
Me: "You mean Hard as Hell, in St. George?"
Her: "Yeah."
Me: "We'll have to practice a little but sure! lets do it!"

So we practiced a little (safety/rules mostly) and her first 2 gun competition was Hard as Hell 2 gun back in 2017. For her first match ever, she did great. I was/am very proud of her. No safety concerns and, if you know the style of match, it's a lot of running and gunning

She came back with me in 2018 (her second match ever). She placed middle of her division.

She shoots with us when we go practice or train, but isn't really interested in pursuing shooting as her own hobby, which I am fine with. She's a good shot and has her own guns/gear and makes good use of them.

Best part is she supports my hobby and my shooting pursuits.

I don't mean to brag... but... she's the best.

Wife loves to shoot rifles but is a bench queen. Needs her benches and clean flushing toilets. No desert shooting for her.

She does conceal carry, but who doesn't in Arizona?

My wife has a cwp and carries and I don't. I'm happy with that in a double standard kind of way.

I think having to get a permit is unconstitutional and I won't get one. I don't carry because I have a life and don't won't to be fighting that all the time. But I don't participate.

When it comes to her safety I want her to do what she has to.
