But I did it tastefully, unlike the "Zouave Trapper". I used the Armored Farmer's TC as a model, with his permission of course.

I used TOW "antiqued" tacks, and they really match the natural patina that is on the butt plate, patch box and trigger guard. And, added four brads around the patch box.

The TC says: "thanks for listening".

Good looking. Diffidently an improvement on the appearance of a gun the manufacture called a Hawken rifle. Maybe you could try some burnt black power rubbed on the brass to give it a whole lot more patina. .For steel I'd dab mustard on my knife blades, let it dry, rub it off under water with a coarse piece of cloth, and do it all over again till I got what I wanted. People would swear it's a antique knife.

@Ugly Sauce calls it a TC Tryon so no foul there…

Hey, you jogged my mind. I couldn't remember what I put on the cylinder of my 1860 to match it to the barrel. It was mustard! Yes, mustard works.

Most of the brass on that rifle has a very nice natural patina. The nose-cap is kind of bright.

Sorry, but I don't like tacks except on a "cheap" trade gun like the Indians had. The 4 around the patchbox look OK but the rest ... I just can't like.

And that's okay. Some people like mag wheels, some like chrome wheels. Some steel wheels with moon hub caps. All a matter of taste. I think what I do like, is that few if any tack-jobs are exactly alike so it personalizes the rifle. As you know, all TC Tryons are exactly alike. However, I understand.
