Hi there
As I said in my previous thread - I would post some pics of the gun if I bought it, so here they are. I am thrilled with the gun as it is like new and very nice to handle/ well balanced for a pump. My main gun is a BPS hunter which I shoot very well and is excellent on ducks but gets heavy on a pheasant hunt - hence this m37 will be put to work filling the upland game niche as it is exactly 1lb lighter than my BPS. This M37 has a mod choke, vent rib and 2 3/4 inch chamber so will only use lead or bismuth loads (it may go ok with 2 3/4 steel but not sure if I want to risk it and no need as I will keep the BPS for ducks - steel etc). These guns (Ithaca) are very rare here in New Zealand
Interestingly enough the person I purchased the shotgun off used to work as a police officer for the California Police Department in the 70's and purchased this gun while there. He said he bought it with the intention of using it for duckhunting but it never eventuated. He testfired it once, oiled it packed it away and brought it to NZ when he immigrated here where again it remained stored until now when he offered it for sale along with an orginal (but basic) assembly book and the gun cover he bought with it.
As this gun has not been fired for 30 yrs I was thinking about dismantling the action and giving a light grease before shooting but it looks a little different from my BPS (which I can pull apart......and put back together) - anything to look out for if i do disassemble? Is there a detailed manual available for download? Also the serial # is 371402342 - Can anyone give an exact DOM.
Thanks in advance - this is an exceptional site loaded with good info.
Cheers
