Hi there
As I said in my previous thread - I would post some pics of the gun if I bought it, so here they are. I am thrilled with the gun as it is like new and very nice to handle/ well balanced for a pump. My main gun is a BPS hunter which I shoot very well and is excellent on ducks but gets heavy on a pheasant hunt - hence this m37 will be put to work filling the upland game niche as it is exactly 1lb lighter than my BPS. This M37 has a mod choke, vent rib and 2 3/4 inch chamber so will only use lead or bismuth loads (it may go ok with 2 3/4 steel but not sure if I want to risk it and no need as I will keep the BPS for ducks - steel etc). These guns (Ithaca) are very rare here in New Zealand

Interestingly enough the person I purchased the shotgun off used to work as a police officer for the California Police Department in the 70's and purchased this gun while there. He said he bought it with the intention of using it for duckhunting but it never eventuated. He testfired it once, oiled it packed it away and brought it to NZ when he immigrated here where again it remained stored until now when he offered it for sale along with an orginal (but basic) assembly book and the gun cover he bought with it.

As this gun has not been fired for 30 yrs I was thinking about dismantling the action and giving a light grease before shooting but it looks a little different from my BPS (which I can pull apart......and put back together) - anything to look out for if i do disassemble? Is there a detailed manual available for download? Also the serial # is 371402342 - Can anyone give an exact DOM.

Thanks in advance - this is an exceptional site loaded with good info.
Cheers

Thanks October and others for your comments - cannot get better than that for an instruction manual.

Thank you Black Talon for the DOM - and Dave I started "wearing it out" yesterday evening! I checked over the assembly manual and decided not to fix what aint broke and left the action untouched. I cleaned the old oil/grease out of the bore, gave the chamber a scrub grabbed my dog and headed down the river for a rabbit (bird season still 2 mnths away). The dog flushed one out of the gorse that went from 0 to flat out in a couple of seconds, it was a crossing shot at 37 paces and I connected 1st shot (it did require another finishing shot). I was using winchester 1 1/8oz black ranger 4's. The gun was just an absolute pleasure to carry and use - easy to see how these guns devloped a huge following as they are one sweet little pump. I fired another 1/2 dozen shots at nothing in particular just to check POI and cycling of the action - sweet. Recoil a little sharper than the BPS but this is more than compensated for with handling ability. This gun has just become "Dads favourite".
