I bought a lower to build. I did not like any of the trigger component that came with the kits or grips. I found a booth, local gun show, that sold lots of parts. I opted for a [ Man-o-man am I gonna get this wrong!], Gieslie [sic] trigger. I did not buy the $35 lower I went all out and got the $65! I have no idea why? I'm being told that there just in not much difference. True? A bunch of guys in my gun smith class fool around with 80% ABS. I think this material will fatigue against the metal parts and will, by design, have a short and potentially dangerous life. I digress. The build was fun and simple and the trigger is awesome. Lower $65, parts and trigger $85. Thoughts?

mach-1, not sure if you're 80% ABS reference is about 80% lower in aluminum? The aluminum lowers, if anodized properly, should hold up to about the same as the common serialized lowers. Polymers, not so sure.

Many options for the trigger group. If you're happy with it, and it works, that is the main thing.

There use to be 4 or so main lower (forged) makers. I'm not so sure now a days. Some have better bevels for the magazine well. Maybe softer edges. And so on.

Now you have to decide on the upper(s). :)

Not sure what Geissele trigger you bought for $85. His ALG line sells near that, but those are his most basic, smoothed-up milspec triggers. If you like the one you got, you'll love one of his National Match DMR triggers, about $270. Either way, you cannot go wrong with any of his products. I have the DMR trigger and two of his rails.

As for the manufacturers of lower receivers, this list might help of who makes what:

Sounds like you've got the base for a nice upper, or uppers. No more permits to sign, unless you decide to go SBR. Go nuts, get 3 or 4 calibers. Building the upper is even more fun than the lower.

Dear bangswitch, how would I know which Geissele I got? Oh and thanks for helping with the spelling.

I don't think the ALG's have any markings, and for sure you didn't get one of the upscale triggers for that price. His custom triggers are laser-etched, and have a 'G' at the top of the trigger post. BTW, it's pronounced 'GUYz-lee' (GUYz like guys and dolls). He's got some great youtube videos about his triggers and is a super nice gent. I work with his brother, who is an orthopedic surgeon.

Interesting, I'm in the market for an Orthopod. Thanks, will do due diligence to look into that.
