I can't believe it: A friend and classmate of mine murdered.

Don't accept that the Ritalin was the cause. It is just one of the signs that things are bad. The other things are gettng in trouble with parents, then schools, then police and society in general. The Ritalin was just there because other signs were bad. It will be the excuse why kids murder, instead of gross failure of parents in the beginning to parent the kids. If you don't agree with me, I could really care less, because you are a target just like I. The sorry crud [thinking of a much worse word] parents are the first targets.
Sorry about your loss. The bad kid should be treated as an adult. What makes a murderous kid more acceptable than an adult. Nothing.
A kid comes at you with a knife or gun and says you are going to be killed....what do you do if you cannot get away. You shoot the kid. Any questions?
 
My condolences to you. Unfortunately, social workers and other "do-gooders" are sometimes the fastest targeted due to the stereotype that we're going through life with blinders on, thinking we can help everyone. While its true that a sidearm might have helped her in this situation, we can't forget that the fault is on the perpetrator. I wonder though, and i'll never figure out the answer, is How many lives DID she make better, before this happened?
