A friend posted a picture of his daughter (about six years old I think) on Facebook holding his new black rifle he must have just bought today. The bolt was clearly tyed back with a plastic tie by the way.
She had a big cute smile on her face, holding this rifle.
Of course, I made my own post congratulating him on his purchase, and admonished him to teach her to respect it properly.
There were also quite a few comments from other friends along the same line.
Here are some of the comments of some of his other Facebook friends who I don't know. Thank God I don't have to talk to these people directly, it looks like many of them have really drank the anti kool-aid. I weep for our future:
Seriously???
Wouldn't put it in the hands of a child but I get the Second Amendment...
this is scary
Somehow this is just wrong??
This is the saddest photo I have ever seen.
hope the gun isn't a real one.
Never been in a fight. Don't plan to start now.
You really might want to take this pic down... I'm sure you know that It is illegal in XXXXXXX for minors to be in possession of assault rifles and if this got out past people on Facebook you could get into some trouble, despite the fact that it is obviously unloaded.
This gun is neither of those, and is for hunting...
Oh yes. Let's equate giving a gun to a child with gay rights. Because that makes total sense.
I'm super sensitive right now because my neighbor was shot three times & killed two days ago. She was six months pregnant. It's the first murder of 2013 for the XXXXX Metro and the first one in XXXXXX since 2006. Not really in the mood to see a 5/6 year old with a gun in my newsfeed. I look at that photo and I think "let the hunger games 2013 of XXXXXXX begin."
Assault rifle is to rifle as grenade is to black cat. It's a people killer, plain and simple, and why do you need a people killing machine? Going hunting?
Such a pot stirrer, XXXXXX! I guess "if you got it, flaunt it" applies. Your prerogative...and right... Pic creeps me out though.
I have to say, this image is deeply disturbing, on several levels. Just my personal response & perspective.
