But I just so happened to have the Tail/grips at home already. Actually bought D frame Pachmayrs few months ago because I forsaw myself getting a Diamondback or Cobra at some point. At the LGS I saw this trade-in Colt Cobra without grips for $510, I knew the time had come.

Aside from serious holster wear, the revolver is in sound mechanical shape. Can't picture it being shot very much. The grips I had are very long, I know but they work.

I like it.

I can only speak for my gun but at the time you would be hard pressed to put 500 rounds thru it. And with RNL standard pressure be hard to find one lose. Mine looks like crap but inside is brand new. Carried a lot and shot very little.

Great find. My wife has one she put Gripper grips on from a older Diamondback. I don’t know if they were factory or aftermarket. They feel good but look a little funny. It’s got a wear spot from being carried between the truck seats but other than that, it’s clean and original. Yeah, carried a lot but shot very little. Her favorite load of mine in that gun is the 110gr Speer Gold Dot over 5.0gr of Unique . It’s just a little stout.

i'm realizing how small this revolver really is. Wow. Supposedly you had to return them to be re-serviced every 500 rounds or so?

I heard this about Detective Specials as well someplace a long time ago and I have looked for information in this regard. I have not found anything regarding a 500 round re-service. Unless it’s in a manual somewhere I can’t find anything online.

I am hoping it’s an urban legend.

Good find! I searched long and hard for my Cobra, but it was in such good shape for the price it was well worth it. I don’t think you could expect a like new original Cobra to wear out within 500 rounds (of sane power level ammo), however it is a very lightly built gun. The less you push things with hot ammo, the better, and of course you never know what all it ate before you got your hands on it.
