That's right I have broken my vows towards the .44 magnum. My ruger redhawk,S.Blackhawk, and Smith 29 now have to deal with an intruder in their midst. I now am the proud owner of a .45 colt! Ruger Vaquero Special edition, the one with color hardening, also came with a .45 ACP cylinder, all for 429 plus tax. I dont know why it took me this long to own a .45 but here it is! (Excuse the crappy phone pics)

Your .44's will forgive you. It's like bringing home a fat puppy. No one will get mad if it makes a mess of things for a little while, cuz a .45 Colt is just to darn lovable to hold a grudge against.

Congrats man. Nice blaster there.

Congrats Bear, looks like you did good. I just dragged 2 old vintage Smiths' home over the weekend, an #14 and a #17, know that feeling well. Say, whats the butcher knife for, carving notches already? Enjoy, and like has been asked of me, range report needed.

Ham, I just added the knife in for flavor ,cant have the old west without a .45 colt and bowie knife! A range report is due soon Just need to buy some ammo. I have plenty for the ACP cylinder but I want to shoot the LC as well.

That's not cheating; more like a little added variety being the spice of life. Nice Vaquero, especially with the extra cylinder and at a great price. Enjoy.

Thanks guys seeing as how my vaquero was made in 2001 Ive been thinking about loading up some .45 ruger only loads.

Oh yeah.
I've got a 7.5" Blackhawk. Most of the time I shoot standard pressure loads but every now and then I'll load up some wrist breakers just for fun.
One I've shot a lot of is 26 grains of H110 and a 250 grain XTP.
DISCLAIMER:
THE ABOVE LOAD IS WAY ABOVE SAMMI SPEC AND SHOULD NEVER BE USED IN ANY FIREARM OTHER THAN RUGER, FREEDOM ARMS OR T/C.
NEW MODEL VAQUEROS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RUGERS THAT CAN HANDLE THESE.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Okay, that's out of the way.
It's loads of fun. I had a set of rubber Pachmyer grips on mine and after one cylinder I was picking flakes of black rubber out of my palm.
It was accurate though. No clue as to velocity.

As long as the caliber starts with a 4, the .44s will forgive you.
I like the HBCK. Been thinking about getting one.
How do you like it?
Where'd you order it?
